I try to buy as many products as possible that aren't tested on animals (if only medicine wasn't tested!), it's terrible that this is allowed!

I wonder if anyone will race for the cure if they named it something like. Raise money to kill more animals in cruel experiments. It's unfortunate that this has been such a one sided conversation. The real truth is: for a pharmaceutical company to patent a drug that saves live, the FDA and similar regulatory agencies all around the world require pharmaceutical companies to prove that their drugs are safe and efficacious via nonclinical (animal), and clinical (human) studies. To gain toxicological data animals are euthanized at the end of studies and the tissues are collected and examined by histopathologists. You want to make sure that the drugs you are taking don't cause your kidneys to shut down right, well they have to examine the kidneys to make sure that this doesn't happen. To make sure that smallest amount of higher order species are used (monkeys, dogs etc.) they use mice. Not just because it is cheaper, but because it is unethical to waste thousands of monkeys on a drug that may not be safe or effective. So you use mice. It sounds brutal, but have you ever seen someone die of a horrific disease? Do you know someone who has died of breast cancer? It should be nice if some of those animal murders would come up with something that would save the life of my mom, or sister, or wife. I might even run a 5k and try to raise some money to help them do it. Every one should do themselves a favor and ask themselves what they would be willing to do without if they were to get rid of biomedical research. Every one should do this world a favor and ignore everything that PETA says. Great Lens though.

Many top professors have spoken out against it.

LD testing: Clearly this is a very cruel test. Gerhard Zbinden, one of the world's best known toxicologists, has called it "a ritual mass execution of animals". It gives no information on treating human poisoning. It is an unreliable way of predicting risk to humans because the results are altered by so many factors

There is no legal requirement for animal testing.
Thank you for your lens, keep up the good work.

This practice is unscientific and futile, let alone obscene and inhumane. It reflects badly on us all.

That's disgusting! What kind of sick-minded monster would do this to animals!? It is good that this site and similar ones are bringing awareness to this subject. People should not get away with these methods of pure TORTURE!!

I've boycotted products that test on animals most of my life but over the last few years have not kept up with the latest info. Thanks for the reminder to stay vigilant.

Excellent lens on a terrible topic. I'm biased of course - but if experiments must be made to test drugs, what possible use are the results to people? More commonly, experiments are undertaken to see if eye-shadow will run, or if moisturising cream will burn, why can't these tests be done on humans? If the experiments don't work, the people could be euthanised.

Very well presented case. I may be biased anyway but most experiments in testing on animals serve no useful purpose really 5* and a sprinkling of Angel Dust

A very well presented argument without scaremongering and letting emotions get in the way of your message.
