Are you a "Bambi-Lover", or someone who loves to go to greyhound races, horse races, and other venues of "animal sports"?

This lens has been created in the hopes of having a discussion of the views of both sides of this heated issue. Please participate by stating your opinions below!

Should Animals be Used for Our Entertainment Purposes?

YES!

erika says:

what is the matter with horse and dog racing its like saying dogs and horses cant run and jump

Samantha says:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with greyhound racing. Those of you who say greyhounds are put down if they don't win races are blind. Where do you get this info? The lies that Grey2K spread about the sport? Grey2K makes money by getting the unlearned to think it's cruel. Wake up America!

D2THAJ says:

YES, Because more times than not pets are treated as well and in some cases better than some children.

mulberry says:

As long as they are treated well, and given socialization with other animals I'm ok with it. I think it's far worse to have a pet and keep it in a crate or on a chain endlessly.

lukafer2 says:

I don't see any problem with it as long as the animals are well kept and fed properly. Just think, if an animal were in the wild they would be struggling to get food everyday and they would always be at the risk of being killed or eaten. We are kind of doing them a favor by prividing a better life

Margaret_Schaut says:

Even pets are 'used' for our entertainment, comfort, pleasure. It is wrong and evil to make animals suffer, yet we see with aquariums and other venues, that we can learn much from animals as 'entertainment' all the while being responsible for their well-being and needs.

NO!

Julien says:

I've received all my "crazy information" from my eyes and ears. I don't know how mixed up I really am....but I'm one of those radicals that actually has a heart. I've witnessed enough to know that Greyhounds for one, are treated with cruelty. Those lucky enough to be rescued usually have injuries from their "sport". Research facts other than "Grey2K", it is not the only source....or really get a look at the tracks and see what happens. Lose YOUR ignorance.

Ariel says:

No. No. No. No. No. Animals can feel pain and do have emotion. The only reason they preform for our entertainment is so they don't get hurt and beaten. Think about dog fighting. That's entertainment. In that form of entertainment the dogs are badly hurt.

Book_Auctionz says:

Racehorses breaking down, elephants turning on their keepers, greyhounds being slaughtered if they done win races. These are but a few of the example of animals that "entertain" us. I dont enjoy watching animal cruelity in any form.

gilwilson says:

no definitely not. that runs along the same lines as game hunting...what is the purpose? to exploit?

Heated topic! I run a forum for Sighthounds (Whippets) and had to ban the discussion of retired racing greyhounds because of the heated arguments both pro and con racing. 5*s and thanks for joining the Squidoo Activist's Animal Charities Group!

Food for thought, Animals should always be treated with respect and care, do they not feel, think and hurt?
