Animal Testing
Imagine living locked inside a closet without control over any aspect of your life. You
can't choose when and what you eat, how you will spend your time, whether or not you will have a partner and children, and if you do, who that partner will be. You can't even
decide when the lights go on and off. Think about spending your entire life like this,
even though you have committed no crime. This is life in a laboratory for animals in the
path of research and testing. It is deprivation, isolation, and misery. Animal testing
is cruel and inhuman! It is morally wrong to torture animals for our own benefit.
According to Kate Teasdale from fazed magazine. Over 3 million animals have been
tormented all in the name of research. It has been found that only 5-25% of side effects
caused by medicines are accurately predicted. This leads me to wonder what is actually
being gained by animal experimentation? (1) According to Martin Stephens of the Humane Society of the United States? Believes that about 10 million animals a year are used in toxicity testing, mostly mice, rats, rabbits and guinea pigs, and then lesser numbers of dogs, monkeys and other species. (2) And according to as many as 115 million animals are experimented on and killed in laboratories in the U.S. every year. Much of the experimentation-including pumping chemicals into rats' stomachs, hacking muscle tissue from dogs' thighs, and putting baby monkeys in isolation chambers far from their mothers-is paid for by you, the American taxpayer and consumer, yet you can't visit a laboratory and see how the government has spent your money. You can't even get an accurate count on the number of animals killed every year because experimenters and the government have decided that mice and rats and certain other animals don't even have to be counted. (3) As we all know, animals play a huge role in each and every one of our lives. It is known that most people love animals to the highest key and treat the animal as their own keen. An estimated 52 million dogs and 57 million cats live with U.S. families. There are a high percentage of American households that have pets such as dogs and cats than the exotic animals such as parrots, monkeys and rats. So in the means of that the scientists will use less dogs and cats then proceeded to use the less favorite animals. These animals will be used for Senseless animal testing is used to test animals for different experiments to find the best product safety and recommendation products such as cosmetics, vaccines, drugs, household cleaners, etc. Animal testing is a type of research that has been going on for hundreds of years. It is used in many different ways, but mainly to prevent harm from being brought upon humans which makes no since because if you are trying to develop a new drug how is a rabbit going to be even slightly relevant to a human. Many people disagree with animal testing because of the fact that many animals get poisoned and die because of these experiments. Although animals are said to be well treated, they are not. The treatment is harsh, and they are cared for half-heartedly.
Cages are not cleaned out. They are so small the animal can hardly move or breathe, and
the animals are not fed like they should be. The animal is under mental and physical
torture. This can also affect the outcomes of the studies being done. Animal testing is
used in three main areas. The first area includes pure research, which investigates
memory, genetics, and social behavior. The second area is drug testing which is used to
test pharmaceutical drugs on animals before these drugs are distributed to the public.
The third area and the most controversial one is cosmetic testing, in which they test the
final product on animals. Animal testing in a rationed setting for come medical
advantages but to find the best cosmetics, household cleaners, and stuff of that type
stuff that is not a necessity. Everybody at one point in his/her life uses cosmetics such as make-up, deodorant, shampoo, wrinkle creams, blemish creams and many other products. In the many different trials that these products go through before reaching the public, some are tested on animals. Many people believe that this is a necessary part of product testing, and I agree that limited testing needs to be done in a controlled environment; however, animal testing of cosmetics is bad. Animals are used to learn the many different things about how cosmetics have on animal skins; however, they do not always have the same effect on humans. In some cases animals have their fur shaved off and they have the product placed on the skin, which ends up burning or giving them a rash, causing them pain. They also have chemicals dropped into their eyes, and lethal substances injected into their bodies. In other cases the animal shows no effect, but when they use it on humans, it does not give the same results as it did on the animals.
When it comes to animals I am a true believer in No animal testing, I love animals and I
have many of them back home. Animal testing is inhumane there is no reason for
scientists to test their chemicals on innocent animals when there are several
replacements that would be satisfactory to replace animals in cosmetic or any kind of
skin tests. Even though animal testing has been around for a very long time scientist
today are trying to come up with an alternative to testing the products on the animals.
They have come up with one successful way so far according to Estelle Tessonneaud, who developed Episkin with her colleagues at L'Oréal's labs in Lyon, France. Episkin is skin layers that grow on collagen; after the skin layers are fully developed they use this to
test chemicals to see how the skin will react instead of using animals to test their
products. I think that this is a really good idea because the only reason that the
scientist use animals is because they are the closest things to humans so instead of
testing things on humans it is just easier to test things on animals. I think that if
more people would try out this new solution to animal testing then eventually we could be animal testing free.

Animal Testing
Below are some pictures of animal testing. Most of the pictures that i looked up were sort of hard to look at. When doing this type of paper on animal testing it really makes me mad to see the cruelty that animals are put through. I also have a video that is showing you pictures of the animals that have been tested. Some are like i said very hard to look at. After watching the video it sort of makes me think that the people doing the testing are just lost souls. New Flickr Photos
