Something about small computer animation pictures in GIF format

This lens will tell you something about computer animated images in Graphics Interchange Format - GIF. You can really do cool pictures: animated cartoons, people, animals even text banners.

The Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) is a bitmap image format that was introduced by CompuServe in 1987 and has since come into widespread usage on the World Wide Web due to its wide support and portability.

Gif image means capability to animation.

Graphics Interchange Format - GIF

About

Graphics Interchange Format A.K.A GIF, is image format, which was introduced by CompuServe. It is now in widespread usage on the internet, due to its wide support and portability. Almost one third of all images are in this format.

This format supports up to 8 bits per pixel, what means that you can have a palette of 256 differnet collors.

What makes him really unique it is the fact, that supports animations (with separate palette of 256 colors for each frame).

Color limitation makes the GIF format suitable for simple images such as logos with areas of same color.

GIF images use the Lempel-Ziv-Welch (LZW) compression, which is data compression technique without loss of information. So we reduce file size without degrading visual quality.

Very similar to GIF is Portable Network Graphics A.K.A. PNG.

Bee
Nectar is what the a worker bee uses to make honey. When she gets to a flower, she drinks as much nectar as she can hold. Then she passes the nectar to another worker bee (who holds the nectar on her tongue) so the water in it can evaporate. When most of the water has evaporated, the sweet nectar becomes honey, which is stored in the hive. During winter, when there aren't many flowers, bees use this stored honey for food. In the spring and summer, when there are plenty of flowers, bees tell each other where to find nectar and pollen. If a worker finds a grape vine with lots of flowers, she marks it with a pheromone (scent). Then she flies back and dances in the hive. This dance tells other workers what direction to fly in and how far to go. Then they fly off to find her scent, the grape flowers, and the food.
Bear
Brown Bears are known as cuddly bears such as teddy bears that children have or people who like to collect teddy bears.

The male brown bears can weigh as much as 860 pounds, and the female brown bears can weigh as much as 455 pounds.

People are more familiar with the Grizzly Bear, which is a Brown Bear. Grizzly Bears are more aggressive. They mainly eat plants, berries, grass, and sometimes they will eat insects, fish, and small animals.
Butterfly
Butterflies will seek out your garden when you have this vigorous perennial, shrub-like plant. You can also observe the life cycle of the monarch by adding this plant to your garden. Beginning in late spring, it produces a profusion of Fiery, red-orange flowers followed by decorative green seed pods. Drought tolerant, good cut flower.
Spider
There are lots of different sorts of spiders. Spiders are not insects. Most can't hurt you but some can make you very sick. That's why it's best not to touch any spiders. Spiders have no bones. Their tough skin serves as a protective outer skeleton. All spiders have 8 legs and all spin silk.
Spiders make silk inside their bodies, pulling it out with their legs from holes near their bottom.
Some webs are neat and tidy, Others are very messy. Webs are used to catch insects to eat. The insects stick to the sticky threads of the web.
Tiger
Tigers have round pupils and yellow irises (except for the blue eyes of white tigers). Due to a retinal adaptation that reflects light back to the retina, the night vision of tigers is six times better than that of humans.

A tiger's forefeet have five toes and the hind feet have four toes. All toes have claws. The claws are 80 to 100 mm in length. Like domestic cats, tiger claws are retractable. Tiger scratches on trees serve as territorial markers.

Adult tigers have 30 large teeth!

Usage of GIF

Usage of GIF format images

-GIF-s are used, when pictures have sharp edges lines (logos for example) and with less colors. It uses advantage of wide flat areas with same color. JPEG as the other wide used format has smoother edges).
-GIF-s are used for data of game.
-GIF-s are used for animations and short video clips.
-because it has only 256 colors it is not used for digital photography. There are used formats with bigger palette of colors such as TIFF, RAW or the JPEG. They are much more suitable for compressing digital photos.
-PNG format is somewhat alternative to GIF, because it uzes better compression techniques and does not have a limit of 256 colors. Unfortunately, PNG-s do not support animations. There are also MNG and APNG formats, derived from PNG. They support animations but are rarely used.
