To be honest, I hadn't shown the slightest bit of interest in anime until I saw how it inspired my daughter. This lens is intended to explain why, at thirty-seven years of age, I now sing the praises of this unique style of Japanese animation.
Having copied characters from comics and other animations, my daughter rapidly moved on to developing some dynamic and unusual characters of her own. Using many different genres she has filled her portfolio with pieces inspired by these two popular media: manga, meaning Japanese print comics, and anime, Japanese animation. She enjoys talking about the art form, cultural context, mythology, history of anime and looks set to achieve her place in art college after all.

- That's fantastic. Does she use any books? We have the complete book of drawing manga now, which is great as our six year old is able to follow some of the basic instructions but are looking for other ideas also. I love your lenses although have absolutely no idea how you do them, ha ha. It has taken me hours to get this far!

- My daughter too has fallen in love with Anime. She not only draws all the characters but has gone on to drawing animals in Anime style and has been teaching herself Japanese.
