Who is Anita Blake?
Anita Blake is a tough as nails vampire slayer and an animator. She is short, petite, and can damn well take care of herself. She gets into more than her fair share of danger in her line of work.
Anita is also a licensed vampire execution and a federal marshal. She has a badge, a gun (sometimes several), and she can take on centuries old vampires without blinking an eye.
Reader Beware
Vampires, and Werewolves, and Magic, Oh My!
And don't forget the shapeshifters. Werewoves, weretigers and lions, wererats, and werebears. Lycanthropy is a disease and those who have it turn furry once a month. When? At the full moon, of course.
Learn about vampire politics and the inner workings of the lycanthrope community. Discover an alternate world filled with fantasy and possibilities. And meet characters that will capture your fascination and your heart.
"Vampires call me The Executioner. What I call them isn't repeatable."
Why I Love Anita Blake
I highly recommend that you check out this incredible author and her wonderful storyline. Laurell K Hamilton has done an outstanding job with this series of novels. Find a comfortable chair, a good lamp, and plan on spending the next few days falling head over heels for Anita Blake and her cast of characters.
Anita Blake 16, Blood Noir, will be released in May (2008) and I think it will be a fantastic addition to the series. I do suggest reading the books in order, because the storyline flows from one to the next.
"You don't volunteer for slugfests with vampires. It shortens your life expectancy."

I had originally published the content of this lens on another site (HubPages) and had already received some feedback. These are the comments I have received before the transfer.
Kris Vega says:
I think what I appreciate most about Anita is her tactical skill. Whatever power or trick she uses is backed up by her quick draw thinking. With a pistol ... she's pretty much a modern samurai. She started off as a shooter with a neat trick she could do at night, but evolved into a woman with many advantages. Yet she retains the knowledge that ... a bad guy with a gun can end it all. So she won't be sloppy (yet makes mistakes still).
LKH has done a great job in studying the psychology behind human survival instincts and it is evident in the way she sculpted Anita. She controls the dangerous instincts and uses the good ones whenever she is in a jam.
My second favorite "Anita" thing is that she's always getting some kind of new power :p I'm always guessing at what kind of power she will get next. Because when she does get one ... it usually means that some monster is gonna get the whammy real soon.
I just wish the "boss" villains got more page dedication. I really liked Chimera.
