In her explosive #1 New York Times bestseller, Godless: The Church of Liberalism, constitutional lawyer, bestselling author, and conservative icon Ann Coulter exposes the Church of Liberalism. According to the author, the Church of Liberalism is characterized by sacraments (abortion), a holy writ (Roe v. Wade), martyrs (Soviet spy Alger Hiss and cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal), clergy (public school teachers), churches (government schools), and creation myths (the theory of evolution).

Ann Coulter has been widely criticized by both liberals and conservatives for referring to a group of 9/11 widows as "The Witches of East Brunswick." She defended her position by pointing out that the women acted as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them, but almost certainly pushed it too far when she called them "gold diggers" and "harpies." In a final insult, she suggested they hurry up and appear in Playboy before their "shelf life" expired. Regular followers of Ann Coulter are accustomed to the author's sharp-tongued invective. Ever since her Bill Clinton-bashing debut, High Crimes and Misdemeanors was published in 1998, she has become one of the most talked-about and polarizing figures in American politics.

Godless: The Church of Liberalism is a book by constitutional lawyer, best-selling author and conservative columnist Ann Coulter, published in 2006. On June 8, 2006, Coulter appeared at a book signing in Huntington, New York, home of many who died in 9/11, where she was handed a letter stating "Your latest comments deriding the widows of 9/11 are a disgrace to thousands who perished on that day," and that her claim that the women had profited from their husbands' death is a "nauseating misrepresentation of their struggle to keep the memory of what happened that day alive." The man who presented the letter was Huntington town board member Mark Cuthbertson, who told her "I'm here on behalf of many of my constituents. We are disgusted with your comments." Coulter tore up the letter. Also on June 8, New Jersey Assemblywomen Joan M. Quigley and Linda Stender issued a joint press release, calling on "...New Jersey retailers to ban the sale of her book throughout the state."

Liberals love to boast that they are not 'religious,' which is what one would expect to hear from the state-sanctioned religion. Of course liberalism is a religion. It has its own cosmology, its own miracles, its own beliefs in the supernatural, its own churches, its own high priests, its own saints, its own total worldview, and its own explanation of the existence of the universe.

OOOoo...this lens made my heart pound. I just feel that she is exploiting her looks. No way...will I read that book or listen to her speak. My reaction would be to feel inflamed, and so I just plain consider her a huge inflammatory opportunist.

There are conservatives who are atheists, usually calling themselves libertarians. There are also whole Christian congregations that are liberal and of course Jesus was a liberal in his day.

Why would people want to read a book whose entire premise is a lie?

I;ve never heard of Anne Coullter until now. I'm not an American, but that's no excuse. She sounds like an entertaining writer -- I suspect I would disagree with her on several counts -- but that's okay. I've always said, I I ever wrote a book, I'd PRAY that it would be controversial. There is no better publicity.

I can't say that I agree with everything that Ann Coulter says, but I do believe she is very intelligent and she certainly knows how to get people talking; even screaming at times:) Excellent Review lens!

For some odd reason, the idea of "Godless" crossed my mind this morning during my online travels and I just had to let SOMEONE know!!! It's just the "tip" of the iceberg me thinks. ;)
