- Anne Shirley that I know is M'liss in the 1936 classic about a Calif. mining
camp orphan of 17 who marries the only school teacher. She was maybe 80
pounds & had a beautiful profile. In Anne of green Gables, the star is plump, is
she THE Anne Shirley I am talking about?
