Who is Ann Jordan?

Welcome! My name is Ann Jordan and I'm so glad you found me. I have lots to share with you. As a 20 year veteran of the Internet, I have lived and learned a lot about Internet technology. For me, the Internet has been a true blessing. I have been able to express my creativity through web design as well as earn extra income online.

The following modules explain in more detail just how involved I am in computer technology today along with where you can find me and what I'm doing to help my fairly large family pay the bills!

Feel free to message me anytime or add me as a friend wherever you see me.

Q & A

A quick interview with Ann

In the 20 years that you've been using computers, how long have you actually be on the Web? I've actually been online for 13 years. I began using computers in my Graphic Arts class in high school. That was back in 1987.

How did you start building web pages? I actually went to a Best Buy and purchased a web site building program for beginners. I taught myself.

Wow! How long did it take you to learn HTML on your own? It probably took me a couple of months because I was also working full-time at the time.

Once you felt you knew how to create pages pretty well, then what? What did you use them for? Well, I really only built pages for fun and entertainment back then. I didn't know anything about making money online yet. I even got pretty good at 3D world building through the use of the Active Worlds browser.

How did you learn how to do 3D world building? I had a friend that taught me or answered questions whenever I had one. It took me a whole year to build the virtual world that I wanted. It is still incomplete but you can still go see it in their "historic AW" section.

What happened after that project? I left the Net for about 7 months. I had no computer or Internet during that time. But then after I met my husband and started using his computer, I was back up and running in no time building pages again.

How did you start making money online? Well, I started searching for money making opportunities and I recognized an affiliate program that I had signed up with several years prior but didn't know what to do with it. So I signed up again and followed the instructions in my email.

What affiliate program was that? SFI Marketing Group, which was also known as Six Figure Income at the time but now just goes by the name SFI.

What happened next? I signed up with several other affiliate programs because I wanted to start putting products on my websites that might interest my audience. One of the companies I am still with today include Amazon. I am also an Armando Montelongo from A&E's Flip this House affiliate. In addition, I use Google Adsense on several sites too. But best of all, I am now a Squidoo Giant and have earned some money with them as well.

Wow! Of all of those programs, which one is doing best for you? I would have to say Armando Montelongo.

What would you recommend someone does to start educating themselves about computers? First of all, you cannot be afraid of it. You must find time to "tinker" on one. Don't be afraid to click on things you might think are wrong. Ask lots of questions from someone who's a "computer geek" (excuse my expression) because they normally like to share their knowledge about computers.

What computer related jobs have you had over the years? I've done computer ad display, newspaper editing, and had a position as PC Operator where I basically troubleshooted computers for an entire office sales team.

How did you come across Squidoo? I was surfing the Net one day and saw the site. I signed up after reading that you could create mini-websites with it.

What are your plans with Squidoo and the future of your technology usage? Well, I hope to get certified in something computer related. I'm beginning to do some research on that now so that once I leave the stay-at-home mom role, I can move into something that more than pays the bills and acknowledges my many years of Internet knowledge and experience.

Interests and Hobbies

Growing up on a farm, it was only natural that I fall in love with animals. When I was 13 I went to my parents and told them I wanted a dog for training in the local 4-H club of which I was a member. My parents allowed it and I got my first dog, a Border Collie.

Well, that was just the beginning!

My many years of sheep dog herding, trialing, breeding Border Collies and selling puppies and partially trained dogs into my adulthood gave me the much needed business sense I'd use later on in life.

In addition, the practical everyday care and patience needed to train such a breed served to be a valuable to me after having my own children. There is much to be said in allowing a child to take care of an animal. It definitely helps to prepare you for the "real world".

Anyhow, along with my interest in dogs and dog handling, I also enjoy storm watching. No, I have no interest in begin a storm chaser. But I would like to be a professional storm photographer and painter. This is something I may pursue after the kids are in school full-time.

Last of all, I enjoy writing and creating web pages. If you continue to search for me and follow me on Twitter and so forth, you will see that I frequently create new and exciting pages, social networks and blogs.

In my free time (yeah right!) I enjoy spending time in 3D chat.
