A Teenagers Guide to Deal with His Parents
Most of us have been there. You grow to become a teenager and your parents suddenly become more embarrassing than they were before.
They want to control your life, become annoying and just want to torture you. At least that's what most teenagers believe. Not so long ago I was thinking the same way.
But the truth is quite different, there are two sides of the story. Most parents just want what is best for their child. Sometimes however, they take it a little far. So what to do?

Don't Yell
Don't even start. It won't help even a bit. If you start shouting, they'll shout back. And before you know it, you will have a fight with your parents. And that can only mean bad things for you.Remember, your parents are still only human, they can get offended by your words. And that normally results in punishment, being grounded, or similar. Also the phrase "I hate you" never did any good. So if you are mad at your parents, instead of yelling, take a deep breath, try to think of the consequences of your actions and try to reason. Sometimes that helps.
Keep Calm
There are thousands of such examples. Not long ago I was the same type. I didn't want to be seen with my parents and much more. But I learned to deal with it and maybe this information will be useful for some of you, parents and children alike.
First of all, keep calm. You may think they are embarrassing, but that's no reason to break down, shout or even have a nervous breakdown. It's not the end of the world. And who knows, maybe you're not the only one of your friends to have such problems.
Don't Lie
Lies aren't always bad. A little white lie didn't hurt anybody yet and sometimes it's quite necessary. I'd like to say the guy that doesn't lie when his girlfriend pops the popular question "does this dress makes me look fat?". If you hear this question and you tell the truth, you are either suicidal or on drugs. But there is a difference between a little white lie and "no mom, I never saw that bag of weed in my life". Bigger lies are usually a very bad idea. You won't feel bad because you lie. There is also a slim chance anything bad could happen because of it, at least if you're mature enough to distinguish a good idea from a bad one.
But you can be sure your parents will find out. If it's a bigger lie, they'll find out sooner or later. And when they do, there will be this awkward silence in the room and they'll develop trust issues. Trust me, I lied about 90 percent of the time and got caught later on almost always. Or if you don't believe me, check out #2 on this list.
Try to Reason
If you think your parents aren't right or have another problem with them, try to reason. We already eliminated yelling and lying, so reasoning is the only thing left. Besides, your parents are grown people who usually listen to reason. And who knows, maybe you will see their point and agree with them. You have to know that most parents only want what's best for their children. Sometimes their decisions don't seem fair, but they normally have a reason for their decisions, so try to see that.

A Guideline for Parents
I know, I can't give you good advice about parenting, because I'm not a father yet. But I can give you some guidelines from your children's point of view. First of all, don't try to be cool. You are the parents, your job is exactly the opposite of that. I know it's probably tough, but the only thing you should care about is how to raise your children and teach them responsibility so they can succeed. They won't like you for that. At least not at first.
The same advice I gave above also applies to you. Don't yell at your children, don't lie to them and try to reason. Although reasoning won't work as well. And don't get offended cause of what they said or did. You know whats best for them and most teenagers probably won't like that.
But remember, you are their parents and although they might not like you now, they will when they get older.

- Very nice. I don't think I try to be cool - can't keep up with the music and get told by my oldest - "don't wear that!" and of course I tell my kids "I AM COOL".... which apparently is NOT lololol - thanks, I will share this with my kids :)
