What's an ACEO????

ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions & Originals. They're an art form that originated on eBay. An ACEO is ALWAYS the size of a standard baseball card: 2.5" x 3.5"

I've been creating ACEOs since late 2006. They're a great way to try out a new technique, style or medium in a small format that doesn't take as much time to do as a larger drawing or painting.

My first ACEOs were in watercolor, then I tried color pencil and scratchboard. Next came graphite pencil, a medium I hadn't used in years. I enjoyed the graphite pieces so much, I decided to start offering pet portraits in miniature in pencil.

About My Pet Portraits

I've been creating pet portraits in ink on scratchboard, mixed media or watercolor for many years and I still offer those options. However, those are a bit pricier since the minimum size on those is a 5x7. When I realized that an ACEO sized portrait would be a viable and affordable option I starting making those available.

For information about all the pet portrait options, please visit PetPortraitsByAnn.com

Here are some samples of ACEO sized graphite pencil portraits:

non-ACEO sizes

Since I "re-discovered" pencil, I've done some drawings in sizes other than ACEO and have been very happy with the results. Pencil is officially back in my list of mediums!

This is a 3x3 portrait of "Paddy", a 10 week old greyhound pup. I had the opportunity to photograph Paddy and his littermates at Greyhound Friends for Life's local rescue/adoption facility.

This is a 5x7 portrait of "Pepper", a Border Collie/Aussie Shepherd mix. From a reference photo provided by Pepper's mom.

Original and Reproduction ACEOs in my Etsy Shop

Find original ACEOs in my Etsy Shop. These aren't commissioned pieces - just did 'em 'cause I wanted to.

This is one of the more recent ones there now - I have plans for many more, but at the moment, I'm up to my ears in other art projects and commissions.

I also have some ACEO-sized reproductions, click here to see those.

Maybe you're wondering, "what's Etsy?" . . . well, it's an on-line community of shops featuring handmade and vintage items. You'll find a wonderful selection of art and fine craft items posted for sale by the artists who make them! Click here to visit my shop, from there, you can click on the "buy" link at the top to go to the Etsy home page.

FYI, I usually list my new ACEOs on eBay first - at auction - and if they don't sell, I put them in my Etsy Shop and/or my Bonanzle Booth (see next section).

ACEOs in My Bonanzle Booth

More Locations, More Exposure - At Least That's the Plan!

You can also find original ACEOs in my Bonanzle Booth.

This one, a pencil drawing of Hans the moon bear is there now. I drew it to help raise money for Animals Asia Foundation's moon bear sanctuaries in Asia.

Bonanzle is another on-line community of shops featuring all kinds of things - much like eBay but smaller and more seller friendly. I still list on eBay, but have closed my store there and moved the eBay store merchandise to Bonanzle. Click here to visit my booth (on Bonanzle, they're called "booths" instead of stores or shops).

FYI, I usually list my new ACEOs on eBay first - at auction - and if they don't sell, I put them in either my Etsy Shop (see previous section) or Bonanzle Booth. You may even see the same ACEO in both locations, but if it sells from one location, I'll end the listing in the other location - I won't make a second version of the same original.

Note This!

Selling Art On-Line to Help Critters

Art for Critters & Etsy for Animals

Because I've always loved animals and like to help them out when I can, I belong to two groups of folks who support our animal friends by donating a portion of their on-line sales to animal charities.

A4C Logo
First is Art for Critters, a group of artists who sell their work on eBay and regularly donate a portion of the sales to various animal rescue & support organizations.

There are 2 ways to make donations from eBay sales - through their "Giving Works" program or by having a previous arrangement with a specific charity and posting a letter from that charity in the auction listing.

The Giving Works program is coordinated through MissionFish. When a seller lists an item on eBay, they can choose to select a charity from a list provided by MissionFish and then specify the percentage of the final sale to donate. Giving Works auctions have this symbol next to the auction title.

I have a selection of items in my eBay store and at auction that benefit animal charities either through MissionFish or A4C. By being a member of A4C, I can support additional animal charities approved by A4C and I have access to the required letters from these organizations.

The second group is EFA: Artists Helping Animals (aka Etsy for Animals), a team of generous folks who have shops on Etsy and donate a portion of their sales to animal charities.

Etsy.com is another site where you can find great art. Items are handmade by the artists who sell there.

I've listed a number of items in my Etsy shop to benefit animal charities. Click here to find them.

Give a Tip to Some of My Favorite Animal Charities

If you have a Twitter account it's really easy - read on to find out more!

Tipjoy is a great way to "microdonate" via the web. If you have a Twitter account, it's even easier since you can use the same username & password to set up a Tipjoy account and make donations directly from Twitter. You'll have to start with a $5 balance (which you can transfer from PayPal) and then you can easily tip anyone who has a Twitter account. And you can tip any amount, even a few cents. It all adds up!

I've set up Tweet Tip widgets (forms) for 3 of my favorite animal charities:

  • Greyhound Friends for Life - Click here for the widget
Don't have a Twitter account & don't want one? Still want to help me help the Greyhounds? No problem, you can set up a Tipjoy account from this page I created.

  • FieldHaven Feline Rescue - Click here for the widget
Don't have a Twitter account & don't want one? Still want to help me help the cats & kittens? No problem, you can set up a Tipjoy account from this page I created.

  • A Chance for Bliss Animal Sanctuary - Click here for the widget Don't have a Twitter account & don't want one? Still want to help me help the senior & special needs critters? No problem, you can set up a Tipjoy account from this page I created.
