Anorexia
Anorexia can mean two things, either just having less appetite for some reason or it stands for anorexia nervosa, a serious illness which has a higher mortality rate than most cancers.
However, for me anorexia also means a lifestyle where I speak up for a kind of lifestyle where you try to achieve and maintain a great body shape. It is about eating less in an obese and unhealthy overweight society. It is about living and eating healthier, rather being considered as underweight than overweight.
I am against all these pro anorexia websites where they give you unhealthy and irresponsible tips to loose weight and where they try to tell you that excessive underweight is normal or even a kind of lifestyle and that malnutrition is normal.
Yes, I like to diet because I want to achieve a goal. I feel good to be thin and I am proud of it. I do this to feel god and be happy.
Anorexia becomes an illness when you become obsessive about your body shape and weight. It then is called anorexia nervosa. When you believe that you are fat although you are already underweight. When you feel bad when you eat something, no matter how little. When you often vomit after a meal in order to feel good. You then have passed the line and should look for medical advice immediately.
Do not take this easily. It is a mental illness which can be of serious harm to your body. It is an eating disorder and not a lifestyle. You think you have control but you do not have anymore.
Being anorexic voluntarily like I am is something different. I like to control my food and weight because I want to have a thin but healthy body. I am little underweight but it is not unhealthy or dangerous. I am always aware that there is a line which I shall not pass.
My Pro Anorexia Tips
My personal tips are:
#1 Do exercise: I know it sounds common sense but are you doing it? Exercise is by far the best and most effective way to shape your body the way you want it, burn fat, loose weight and build up your energy levels. You will look better, healthier, slimmer, and best of all, you will have much more energy and optimism, all things that anorexia nervosa sufferers miss. My personal favorites are Tai Chi, jogging and Pilates.
#2 Vomiting is ok, I do it sometimes too but never more than twice a week. Purging is harmful in many ways and should never be done frequently. However, to me it sometimes is ok, for example when I enjoyed a great big lunch where I ate way too much. I know that I do exercise which will compensate but sometimes I really feel bloated. I decide that I do not want my body to digest all that and vomit. Be warned. Vomiting can become a very harmful habit when you do it more than twice a week.
#3 Count calories: There is nothing else you will ever need when you count your calories and do exercise. You must know how many calories a food has in order to know what you can eat and what to avoid. It is a simple math.
#4 Maintain a positive attitude: It is important maintain a positive and healthy perspective to all these dieting stuff. The media are full of dieting and exercising tips, do this, do that, try this, buy that. Use your brain and do not get trapped by all this bs. It is pretty simple. Your body needs a certain amount of calories and necessary nutrition to work properly. Not more, not less. Your body is also made to move, so move and do some exercise, does not really matter what. Your body is no mystic thing. It is a simple machine. These two 'theories' shall be your basis. It has worked 1000 years ago and will work the next 1000 years.

Are Anorexic People Ill?
It is still unknown what causes anorexia nervosa. However, there is nothing wrong in a lifestyle that stands for healthy living, dieting and achieving a slim body. Do not abandon your dreams because of a false fear of risks.
There is risk for anything. Life healthy, do not abuse dieting techniques and drugs and you are on the right way.
Our Catwalk Models - Anorexic or Just Slim?
I welcome this because it heats up the discussion about anorexia nervosa and other eating disorders and increases awareness for these problems.
But let's stay with the facts. Not all models are ill but a minority. There is a line which they do not cross and they know it. Yes, they control their eating habits rigorously but it is their job and not a disease. They get paid much money for doing it. Their job is it too look great and not fat.
You can not blame the models for that because we want them like that. And we all want healthy slim models and no bony patients.
