Caught up with all the hullabaloo of looking and feeling good, young people tend to believe that losing weight and being skinny is IN, while having those unwanted fats is most definitely OUT. Having a Heide Klum figure is the most- sought after and the only way of achieving model-like vital statistics is through rigid diet and forced starvation. The multi-media highlights of fame, fortune and vanity coupled with the "Thin is beautiful" psyche are way becoming too encompassing to most of us, causing serious eating disorders that have, in effect, victimized 5-7% of most American women during their lifetime. The Anorexic State
Not knowing the dangers of being underweight, most women continue to lose more pounds, hating the sight of their seemingly fat shapes, although in truth, they appear to be emaciated and too unhealthy themselves. One of the most common eating disorder, Anorexia Nervosa is the state of someone believing that their body is not thin enough and they go on being obsessed with losing more, leading to critical health problems. What comes out of the whole process, is a weak and sickly individual that could no longer fix the eating disorder. The anorexic state makes one a perfectionist in meticulously counting the calories or taking no calories at all, starving in the process.
The Anorexic Cure
Most people tend to develop the need to lose weight in their early teens because of media influence, peer pressure and having that sense of belongingness. Other factors like low self-esteem and criticisms lead to eating disorders, creating a distorted image of oneself. Most people with Anorexia Nervosa try to hide the problem or most of the time, solve the problems themselves but to no avail! Early intervention and treatment makes it easier to deal with Anorexia Nervosa. Sometimes, there is difficulty in fighting this eating disorder. You cannot just force an Anorexic to change their behavior overnight. What it takes is the person's willingness to accept their weakness and seek for the much- needed cure for Anorexia Nervosa from most trusted specialists/physicians.
One important factor that can actually help is by giving the support and understanding as well as the encouragement, that cure is on its way.
