Anti Fogging product review

While looking for anti fog products I came across several that I thought I would pass on to everyone.

The start point-

I live in Springfield MO and love to ride, but I had a major issue with my helmet shield always fogging up with the humid weather here.

So I did what any other geek would do I went online and looked for ways to stop the fogging. I found out that this is common not just with helmets but goggles, scopes, camera lens, etc.. and many different products have been made to stop fogging on glass and polycarbonate lenses.

I have tried 3 here and will give you the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Cat crap? yes "Cat Crap" it is a green-colored wax-like stuff not the stuff you find in a litterbox. It came well recommended on several site so I bought some to try. Well I was surprised to find that it actually seems to prevent fogging BUT it is the hardest stuff to put on correctly. The directions say to apply by rubbing a very little amount on the inside of the visor.  Then buff it out using a clean, soft, dry cloth. Which is easier said then done. I rubbed it around and waited a bit like I would with car wax and buffed it off with a cloth and looked through and seen smears, so polished some more and it smeared some more, so I waited a bit longer and polished some more and wow there it goes it was on. so I went out for a test run. It does work, very little fog but only when I blow out directly on it. (yes on purpose) but I noticed things are a bit hazzy and blurred not bad but when trying to read street signs with small print it is noticeable.

Price $3.75 for 0.25 oz. tub or 3 tubs for $9.99.

ok Next

Fog Tech - Nice name and well liked also. They even have videos on YouTube about it. So purchases made and test run.

Much easier to apply just like the guy shows you on the video. Just put on a cloth, wipe down shield and bingo its on. Test run time.
Ok first ride looks good. No fogging except when I do the "lets exhale directly on the shield test" which I kinda expected. Good visual clarity. I thought everything was a win "until" the ride home that evening. I got on my bike and put on my helmet and noticed right away some smearing so I wipe my shirt around inside a bit. oops now it really smeared. I polish it very carefully and got it looking better, but I didn't bring the bottle with me to try to redo it. So off I go, but I noticed as I drove a lot of haloing around the lights etc on the way home matter of fact it was very annoying. So much so that I stopped and washed it of at a restroom. So I guess next try.

Price 30 ml bottle is $16.00; 5 pack of Packets is $5.00

Parkers Perfect - Have you ever wondered how the world is connected in very strange ways? I do all the time and stumbled upon a older product that is not very well known doesn't do hardly any marketing and is located in Hollister, MO right next to Springfield. So I hopped on the phone and gave them a call. Geno the owner calls me back ( Yes the owner) and say's sure I will send a bottle right over.

When it gets to me I do the spray, wipe, bang its on application. Wow one shot very simple, either I am getting very good at this or this stuff is easy. Then the best part, test drive. Immediately after putting on my helmet I do the "breath on mask" test. Wow very little fog and what is there I can see through and in 2 seconds it is gone. Hmm makes me wonder a bit. I stop at a Quicktrip and pull off may helmet and use my shirt rub around a bit in the corner looking for smears ( I had taken the bottle with me this time) and notice that there is no smears? I do get some lint from my shirt on the glass but just by blowing on it comes right off? OK I am impressed but I needed to find out about night driving so that test run had to wait until the next day when I headed out to Branson.

The Branson trip was a "fun trip" Drive down was great. Silverdollar city fabulous as we stayed until closing to see the music show after hours. Coming back well put it this way is rained the whole way back. We got soaked, cold, not the best way to end a good day. BUT Parkers Perfect what a champ, even with the rain no fogging, the view coming back was better then driving in a RainX test car. To top it off NO haloing it was like I had a force field around eyes that cleared the rain away as I rode. I was GREAT!

Long story short this trip made me a permanent customer of Parkers Perfect.

Price - 2 oz Personal bottle at $6.99; 100 Foil Packet Dispenser $ 13.99

After Stumbling through all of the above I have since found out that Parkers Perfect is sold by Cabella's, Edmund Optics, and several Large dealers quietly under a "Private label" for years I guess their motto is true "Finally something that works". You can order anti fog spray and cloths directly from them at ParkersPerfect.com
