Anti Candida Diet Recipes For Snacks

Your snacks are really quite limited during stage one of your Candida diet.

One of the easiest Candida diet snack ideas is just to mix up your favorite nuts and seeds.

Every-time you feel like reaching into the biscuit tin, reach into your container of nuts and seeds instead.
It does take a bit of will power, but the end result is sooo worth it right?

Nuts and seeds are actually a great way of staving off the munchies and are full of essential oils as well. Just throw together your favorite selection of nuts (exclude peanuts and cashews - they can are the most likely to contain mold) and throw in some seeds like sesame, pumpkin and sunflower.

If you want to get really daring - then add just a few pieces of dried cranberry to the mix - just enough to stop your nut and seed mix from becoming too dry.

Taking it one step further;
Grab a handful of your nut and seed mix
Add rolled oats and whole-grains like puffed amaranth or quinoa to it,
Sprinkle in cinnamon, nutmeg and/or allspice.
Mix all of the above thoroughly.

This makes a great topping for yogurt, fruit or berries - or all three!

Anti Candida Diet Recipes for Dressings

If you are anything like me, then the very thought of lettuce makes you gag, but if you were to add a dressing to it, somehow the idea of a salad become quite delightful!

The problem here is that our usual vinegar based dressings are out on the Candida diet, so what can we do?

Here are a couple of ideas;

Drizzle lemon or lime juice over our salad, sprinkle a few seeds over the top or add cottage cheese.
Actually, try all three - yum! Especially with chicken salads.

Whole grain mustard is great for both beef dishes and straight vegetable dishes. (Just check the label)

For lamb I like to grab a spoonful or two of natural unsweetened yogurt, add a few pieces of chopped mint and/or cumin and drizzle that over the top.

Even making a light dressing using a light oil like flaxseed, coconut or flavored olive oil with different herbs mixed in can make all the difference - add garlic, ginger, oregano, chili flakes, pepper, parsley - anything that you like!

Anti Candida Diet Recipes - Hummus

Hummus has to be one of the most under-rated foods out!

It can turn any snack into something a little bit special. We all know how 'blah' rice crackers can be right? How about celery...yeuck!
Well add a bit of hummus to dip your crackers or celery into and viola! You now have a yummy snack that's a little bit flash as well!

in fact hummus is so darned tasty and easy to make that the hardest part is not eating it all in one sitting!

There are plenty of brands and flavors available in stores, but here is a basic recipe that you can whip up in no time;

* 1 16 oz can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans
* 1/4 cup liquid from can of chickpeas
* 3-5 tablespoons lemon juice (depending on taste)
* 1 1/2 tablespoons tahini
* 2 cloves garlic, crushed
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 2 tablespoons olive oil

Preparation:
Drain chickpeas and set aside liquid from can. Combine remaining ingredients in blender or food processor. Add 1/4 cup of liquid from chickpeas. Blend for 3-5 minutes on low until thoroughly mixed and smooth.
Place in serving bowl, and create a shallow well in the center of the hummus.
Add a small amount (1-2 tablespoons) of olive oil in the well.

Anti Candida Diet Recipes - Bread and Wraps

Can't live without your bread?

Many health stores and even some supermarkets now stock bread that is OK for those looking for anti Candida diet recipes. But just in case, here is a recipe for bread that ticks all the boxes.

OAT BREAD RECIPE
2 1/2 cups oats
1/2 cup of soy flour
Hot water to mix
Handful of sunflower seeds
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Mix together the oats, soy flour and sunflower seeds.
Stir in the oil and mix with hot water to make a dough consistency.

Shape into a round ball, using oats to coat the dough. Cut a cross on the top and place on a baking tray. Bake for 30-40 minutes. Check to see if it is done by tapping the bottom for a hollow sound. Cool on a wire rack.

No matter where you get 'em from, these breads may not be so great to eat raw - but toast 'em up, add some hummus or cottage cheese and pig out!

Wraps
Ingredients:
2 cups flour (amaranth, buckwheat or quinoa),
½ cup cooked, well mashed sweet potato,
½ tsp baking powder,
½ tsp sea salt,
2 tbsp organic oil of choice (extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, sesame oil etc.),
water

Mix together the dry ingredients, then combine with the oil and sweet potato (should form rough 'breadcrumbs' as when making pastry). Add water a little at a time until the ingredients form dough that is soft but not sticky.

Make into balls and roll out into circles as thin as you can without breaking them, this will depend on the flour, warmth and humidity. 3 or 4 millimeters shouldn't be a problem.

Heat a little oil in a frying pan and cook gently on each side until golden.
