  • A good anti-virus program should be able to detect and remove all of the different forms of malware such as trojans, worms, spyware, and adware.

  • The best anti-virus software also have additional protection features such as e-mail, phishing, file sharing, and browser proection

  • The software should be user friendly, otherwise it would be hard to take advantage of all the features that it has

  • Anti-virus software with different features have different costs: deside how much you are willing to spend and which features are more important to you. For example, it is more important that your anti-virus program is good at detecting and removing viruses, spyware, worms, and trojans than for it to be able to protect e-mail because you can protect yourself from e-mail viruses by not opening unexpected letters from people you don't know.

In this verion, Symantec tried to eliminate one of its biggest problems w/ Norton, impact on system performance, and they succeeded. This new version is faster and easier to use than the predecessor. Sometimes it can be hard to install anti-virus software on a system with lots of bugs, but this was a walk in the park. Also, unlike previous versions, this program porvides excellent costumer support. It also has all of the features necessary to keep your computer safe.

AVG Anti-Virus Free 9.0

type=textThis is one of the best free anti-virus programs. The interface is user friendly, it doesn't take too long to scan and it even scans links and tells you if the site you are about to visit is unsafe. However it doesn't offer alot of other important features, such as enhanced firewall (protection from hackers), anti-spam, or protect you from downloading an unsafe program from the internet, that software like Norton and Kaspersky do.

This anti virus program has all of the great security features of the famous 2009 verison, only it looks a little nicer and is more user friendly. It is pretty easy to install, and does a very good job of keeping your coputer safe from attacks from malicious software. However, eventhough I didn't experience such problems, I've heard that some people were having trouble with computer performace after they upgraded to this from the '09 version.

This software is light on your system, so you can use your PC while it scans. It is pretty easy to use and has lots of different features that keep you protected from not only viruses but also malicious software such as spyware and adware. However, the customer support is much worse than that of the other anti virus programs and you have to update it regularly, otherwise it can ocassionally let a virus through.
