New Brighton Stockyard Days
As part of this local celebration, the town of New Brighton hosts this run. It's called a run, because it's not a race to see who gets there first, it's just fun.
Stockyard Days is a celebration of how the town of New Brighton was started. Since 1987, they've had this 120-mile car run. Everyone who participates gets a specially made medallion to put on their car. Plus, you get to see a lot of ancient cars that you probably wouldn't see otherwise.

What Is It?
This run is just a fun way for antique car buffs to show off their cars. To enter the run, your car has to be pre-1908, or a 1 or 2 cylinder car up to 1915. And you don't have to have a car. It's also open to bikes and motorcycles. The cars start in a town called New London, MN. There is an entrance fee, but that covers any food and drink you may have at the 5 rest stops along the way. Remember, some of these cars run on steam, so they have to make frequent stops. The run ends in New Brighton, MN sometime between 3 and 5 pm. We're talking about cars that at best, go about 30 miles an hour. Everyone who participates has a great time, and even the spectators have fun. You should see how many people wait at the finish line for the cars to return.
Cars You'll See
You wouldn't believe the different brands of cars you'll see. This year there were a lot of Buicks, quite a few Maacswells, a couple of Cadillacs, a couple of REO Speedwagons (like the band), some Franklins, one steamer, and even an Indian motorcycle. This is the first year I've ever paid any attention, but I do know that a lot of the cars have been in this run since it began.
Where The Run Goes
Here's a map of where the cars start, and where they end.

- One of the best parts about living in St. Paul is all the cool classic cars driving by on their way to Porky's or the Fair Grounds for all the car shows! Cool lens :-)

- I love cars from that era. Much cooler than a limo for a bride, too.
