Buying Vintage Christmas Postcards From Ebay

Tips For Storing Your Vintage Postcard Collection

* Remove Vintage Postcards From Old Albums Carefully Older albums are generally not archival and most likely the postcard was glued into place. Just go slow and try to remove as much of the glue and original album paper from the back of the postcard as possible without damaging the card itself. Any remaining glue and paper will continue to deteriorate your postcard.

* Use only acid free and archival boxes, albums and pages. The good news these days these items are easy to come across and cheap to buy.

* Make sure the slots in your album pages are sufficiently large enough to accommodate your postcard. Too tight a fit may mean you damage your postcard while trying to make it fit.

* Do not glue or tape postcards instead use archival photo corners

* If framing your collection once again make sure it is conservation framed using only archival materials (including the glass) and do not hang in direct sunlight.
