Anxiety, Alcohol Contributes To Anxiety

Find out the shocking truth about how America's legal drug can cause anxiety and panic disorder

Anxiety, Alcohol

Neurotransmitter Balance

I know it seems to go against common sense, but, anxiety is actually caused by excess alcohol consumption. It's not felt while drinking, but it in it's aftermath.

To understand how this works we need to understand alcohol's effects on the liver and the brain. Unfortunately, alcohol damages both the brain and the liver, which are the two organs of the body which have the most control over our anxiety levels and our moods.

First of all, if the liver is damaged it makes it very difficult for your body to produce the neurotransmitters responsible for keeping our mood calm and serene. The most famous of these neurotransmitters is serotonin, which is the brain chemical targeted by drugs like zoloft and prozac.

It's my belief that if people took better care of their livers they would not need to turn to these drugs. A lof of doctors and naturopaths that I've spoken with would agree with me too.

Your brain's neurotransmitter balance is effected by alcohol as these chemical messengers are utterly destroyed by alcohol.

In addition, alcohol flushs valuable vitamins and minerals out of the body which could have acted as co-factors to build new transmitters. It's really a viscous cycle, ouch!

If you drink in moderation, once or twice a week at lower levels (not getting drunk) you're probably not going to have any major problems because our bodies are very resilient.

However, if you're binge drinking on a regular basis you could be developing a major anxiety disorder down the road. Perhaps you're already experiencing symptoms, if so read on, it gets better.

You Can Enjoy In Moderation, But Take Heed

Anxiety, alcohol is a contributing factor, but what can you do to limit it's effects and if you are having anxiety attacks, what can you do to get rid of them?

Well, there are many things you can do fortunately. You have to take back control or lose the battle with your ailing brain.

First of all, I recommend to anyone who's having panic attacks to go learn some cognitive tools that you can use to self medicate yourself.

The One Move Technique from Panic Away is my favorite method and has worked for thousands and thousands of people.

In addition, if you're going to drink make sure that you're taking a B vitamin complex, vitamin C, and supplemental magnesium. A lecithin supplement is also important as it protects from developing a sluggish, fatty liver.

An exercise program and a healthy diet will do great things to protect your liver and your brain from the ill effects of alcohol, as will cutting down on drinking. That almost goes without saying.

Please though, if you think you have a problem with booze seek help immediately.

Ok, now you have a diverse arsenal of tools at your disposal to fight your anxiety. Alcohol is not a problem if enjoyed in moderation and if you have other healthful factors to support your brain at the same time.

If you're having panic or anxiety attacks immediately go and learn The One Move Technique because the more panic attacks that you have the more you actually can kill your brain cells.

There is evidence that you can regrow them at some point, but that is a whole other topic. Also, conservation of your brain cells is a much better solution.
