Anxiety in Young Children

Just as adults can experience anxiety, young children can also suffer from anxiety. Everythingchanges so fast and the children's world expands a lot. A child in anxiety is not unusual at all. The anxiety of children can be easily to define and understand. However, it also need treatment.

Teach your child to countrol his or her own life

Children can feel the real anxiety. For example, a 3 or 6 years old child may scare monsters when he or she is in bad lonely. We, adults know that there are no monsters in the world, but this is a very real fear for a child of that age. Toddlers often don't leave with anyone other than their parents. This is called separation anxiety. This is more than being "choosy." They are experiencing a very real anxiety or fear. Babies may feel anxiety when they are in the presence of a stranger. If you are smiling to a baby, he or she may bury his or her head in the parent's lap. This is anxiety at play. Preteen children often start to fear natural disasters, accidents, and even war.

Anxiety disorder and panic disorder

Some anxiety can be disappeared when they grow older. The baby who feels anxious around strangers may outgrow those feelings as they grow a little older. But old fears are often replaced with new fears. The child stops fearing monsters, but starts fearing being without their parent (separation anxiety), and once they get past that anxiety, they may start fearing strangers. Children have to assure that they are safe. The parents should watch for the signs of anxiety in your child, and once you see these signs, you need to make sure what your child worry about. You have to do something to dispel their fear.

Anxiety disorder and different types of phobias

The signs of anxiety in a child include nervous movements, clinging, being impulsive, trouble sleeping, an increased heart rate, sweaty or clammy hands, feeling nauseous, frequent headaches, breathing faster than usual and frequent stomach aches.

Help your children to get over the anxiety

1.Encourage children to ask questions.
2.Talk on their level. Communicate with your children in a way they can understand. Don't get too technical or complicated.
3.Develop a plan. Establish a family emergency plan for the future, such as a meeting place where everyone should gather if something unexpected happens in your family or neighborhood. It can help you and your child feel safer.
4.Pay attention. Your children's play and drawings may give you a glimpse into their questions or concerns. Ask them to tell you what is going on in the game or the picture. It's an opportunity to clarify any misconceptions, answer questions and give reassurance.
5.Find out what frightens them. Encourage your children to talk about fears they may have. They may worry that someone will harm them at school or that someone will try to hurt you.
6.Be honest. Tell them exactly what has happened. For example, don't say that someone who has died has "gone to sleep;" children may become afraid of going to bed.

Spead much time with your children.

Listening and talking to children about their concerns can reassure them that they will be safe. Start by encouraging them to discuss how they have been affected by what is happening around them. Even young children may have specific questions about tragedies. Children react to stress at their own developmental level
