Look at it this way... anxieties and worries are probably wired into us since our ancestors used them for survival. But that is no longer needed for us in the modern world. We are not faced with everyday danger from carnivores and lousy weather like our ancestors did.
But we sure do worry... a lot sometimes! And the thing of it is, many times what we worry about never happens. Normally, worrying is just about a single event such as your children going to school the first day or so... and after a few days of school... your kid loves it and everything that you dreaded... never happens.

For two important reasons I can think of... the first of course is that many anxiety and panic attack symptoms are simliar to symptoms of more serious medical conditions. So obviously, you do want to be sure that you are suffering from anxieties and panic attacks rather than from a heart attack.

Those who do experience excessive anxieties will report various symptoms... it is your body responding to the perceived threats created by your mind because of all the worrying and anxieties.
