Stress can Lead to Anxiety if Ignored

Anxiety disorders are often a product of stress so when looking for anxiety remedies it makes sense to include those for stress... and who isn't experiencing stress as the world markets crash?

So what is stress? It is a person's physical or emotional response to demands or pressures they may experience from time to time. These pressure demands can be work, relationships, illness and money. While stress can help us to be stimulated to take action there are consequences if stress exceeds our ability to cope.

From GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) to panic disorder, you can cut back on the anxiety in your life by reducing stress.

Herbal Remedies

Ashwaganda is also known as Withania somnifera, Ashwagandha, Indian ginseng, Winter cherry, Ajagandha, Kanaje Hindi and Samm Al Ferakh. see Wikipedia

Ashwaganda is a member of the pepper family and is found in Western India, Northern Africa, the Mediterranean and Middle East.

All parts of the plant are used: for cooking, to thicken plant milks when making vegan cheeses, insect repellent and medicinal purposes. It is the root of the plant that is helpful for people who are extremely agitated. It is also beneficial to the immune system and has anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties.

Ashwaganda is known as an adaptogen which is a term used by herbalists for substances that enhance the body's ability to resist stress and increase its general performance by helping the body to resist disease.

NB It is not recommended for pregnant women.

Laughter is the Best Medicine

Laughter really is the best medicine. Research has shown that smiling and laughing cause physiological changes in your body. There is a reduction in cortisol which is a chemical that indicates stress in the body and increases mood elevating endorphins. No only this but laughter is thought to improve the circulation, stimulate the nervous system, heighten the immune system, and make the heart stronger.

Laughing releases tension and helps keep things in perspective. When we release tension, the high levels of the body's stress hormones revert to normal allowing our immune systems to work more effectively.

Even faking laughter is known to cause the body to respond as though the laughter is real.

Tips:

* Practice laughing 5 minutes every day. Fake it till you make it.

* Laugh with other people when they laugh.

* Wear a smile. It puts you closer to laughing and is the beginning of laughter.

* Seek out activities that make you laugh.

* Lower your anxiety by visualizing a humorous situation and replace the view of an anxiety-producing situation.

Herbal Teas as a Remedy for Anxiety

Drinking tea is an enjoyable pastime and adding herbal teas to your repertoire will have added health benefits.

Herbal tea is basically the combination of boiling water and dried fruit, flower or herb. Documents discussing the enjoyment and uses of herbal tea have been discovered dating back to as early as Ancient Egypt.

Those that are particularly good for calming the nerves and reducing stress and anxiety are:

* Chamomile - made from the Chamomile flower this tea was considered a remedy for all ills by the ancient Egyptians. It is a modern favorite for promoting calm and relieving anxiety.

* Lemon Balm - has been used successfully since the Middle Ages to help with nervousness and anxiety by helping calm and relax the nerves.

* Skullcap - is commonly used in connection with anxiety, nervous tension, muscle spasms, PMS-related symptoms, tension headaches, restless legs syndrome, insomnia, and mild Tourette's syndrome.

* St John's Wort - best known as a mild antidepressant, it is also being studied for its possible affects on other mood disorders such as anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

* Valerian -- best known for its calming effect, and is used in nervous related conditions such as anxiety, nervous restlessness, anxiety-induced headache or upset stomach.

Massage Benefits

This is my favorite stress and anxiety remedy.

Massage is one of the oldest forms of treatment, first recorded in China during the second century B.C. Massage is not just a luxury found in exotic spas and up-market health clubs. Massage therapy combined with traditional medical treatments is used to reduce stress and pain and promote healing in people with certain health conditions.

Isn't it a human trait when your friend is hurting to rub their hand or pat their shoulder? Because massage involves direct contact with another person through touch, it can make you feel cared for and improve your self-image.

Massage can relieve tension in muscles and relieve stress and anxiety. Massage can also cause your body to release natural painkillers, and it may boost your immune system. Most people use massage for relaxation in conjunction with relaxing potions and oils.

Now that I've told you it isn't just a luxury and had genuine health benefits which will help remedy your anxiety go and get yourself a massage.

Meditation for Anxiety Fear

relaxationOne of the best ways to combat anxiety naturally is to stop and take time to connect with your body. Try following the steps below and find yourself free of any anxiety fear:

* Sit quietly or lie down with your eyes shut.

* Starting from your feet and working your way upwards, scan your body for sensations.

* Take time to pause in each area of your body and notice the different sensations they undergo.

* Let your thoughts drift to the center of your body - at the abdomen area or around the navel. Breathe in deeply.

Try this technique at least once a day and you will notice you will feel more relaxed each time. Meditation is known as one of the most effective methods of healing and you can do the same with anxiety fears.

Stress Relief For People With Pain

Free ebook...

Stress and anxiety go hand in hand with chronic pain. Physical pain brings mental pain as you try to cope. If that sounds like you this ebook is for you, "Stress Relief For People With Pain".

"Have One Week, Will Relax" Your 7 days program to Stress management

They say there's more than one way to skin a cat. The same goes when you start tearing your hair out with all the frustration, grief, anxiety, and yes, stress. It's a state of mental conditioning that is like taking that bitter pill down your throat, causing you to lose your sense of self, and worse your sanity. Just thinking about it can drive anyone off the edge.

And they say that the proactive ones are already living off the edge.

As one stressed-out person to another, I know how it feels, and believe me there are many variants when it comes to stress. Coping with life, and carrying the problems that may or may not belong to you can scratch away the little joy and happiness that you can carry once you head out that door. You can't blame them for being like that; they have their own reasons, so much like we have our reasons to allow stress to weigh us down. They say that stress is all in the mind, well, what's bugging you anyway?

There are several ways to manage stress, and eventually remove it out of your life one of these days. So I'll try to divide it into a seven-day course for you and I promise it's not going to be too taxing on the body, as well as on the mind.

1. Acknowledge stress is good
Make stress your friend! Based on the body's natural "fight or flight" response, that burst of energy will enhance your performance at the right moment. I've yet to see a top sportsman totally relaxed before a big competition. Use stress wisely to push yourself that little bit harder when it counts most.

2. Avoid stress sneezers
Stressed people sneeze stress germs indiscriminately and before you know it, you are infected too!

Protect yourself by recognizing stress in others and limiting your contact with them. Or if you've got the inclination, play stress doctor and teach them how to better manage themselves.

3. Learn from the best
When people around are losing their head, who keeps calm? What are they doing differently? What is their attitude? What language do they use? Are they trained and experienced?
Figure it out from afar or sit them down for a chat. Learn from the best stress managers and copy what they do.

4. Practice socially acceptable heavy breathing
This is something I've learned from a gym instructor: You can trick your body into relaxing by using heavy breathing. Breathe in slowly for a count of 7 then breathe out for a count of 11. Repeat the 7-11 breathing until your heart rate slows down, your sweaty palms dry off and things start to feel more normal.

5. Give stressy thoughts the red light
It is possible to tangle yourself up in a stress knot all by yourself. "If this happens, then that might happen and then we're all up the creek!" Most of these things never happen, so why waste all that energy worrying needlessly?

Give stress thought-trains the red light and stop them in their tracks. Okay so it might go wrong - how likely is that, and what can you do to prevent it?

6. Know your trigger points and hot spots
Presentations, interviews, meetings, giving difficult feedback, tight deadlines%u2026. My heart rate is cranking up just writing these down!

Make your own list of stress trigger points or hot spots. Be specific. Is it only presentations to a certain audience that get you worked up? Does one project cause more stress than another? Did you drink too much coffee?

Knowing what causes you stress is powerful information, as you can take action to make it less stressful. Do you need to learn some new skills? Do you need extra resources? Do you need to switch to decaf?

7. Burn the candle at one end
Lack of sleep, poor diet and no exercise wreaks havoc on our body and mind. Kind of obvious, but worth mentioning as it's often ignored as a stress management technique. Listen to your mother and don't burn the candle at both ends!

So having stress can be a total drag, but that should not hinder us to find the inner peace of mind that we have wanted for a long time. In any case, one could always go to the Bahamas and bask under the summer sun.
