Sometimes I think that the only things in the world who enjoy my garden as much as I do are the bees and wasps who hang out there. Don't let a bee or wasp sting ruin your fun this summer. Be prepared by keeping Apis on hand to bring immediate relief from the stinging, swelling, itching, redness, and discomfort.
Apis
Amazon Price: $8.85 (as of 10/12/2008)
Homeopathic remedies by Boiron come in a handy blue tube with measured dosing.
IMPORTANT : For persons with a bee sting allergy - DO NOT DELAY in acquiring immediate medical attention. Apis can be given concurently with use of an EpiPen. Allergic persons who are stung should be taken to the nearest Emergency Room as soon as possible - Apis will not stop an anaphylactic reaction!
One of about a dozen wasps' nests that I had to remove from the property - after most of us had been stung at various times before (nasty little things, those evil wasps!) Keep a tube of Apis with your gardening tools for instant treatment when you need it. It works really well for pricks from thorns too.

Stinging insects
The main difference between Bees and Wasps is that Bees feed their larvae on 'honey' a mixture of pollen and nectar, whereas Wasps feed their larvae on meat, mostly paralysed arthropods (the exception that makes this rule are the Pollen Wasps Masarinae). The Wasp paralyses its prey rather than kills it, this is so that it will not rot before the larvae gets a chance to eat it. If you get to look at them under a microscope you will see another more taxonomically sound difference, i.e. Bees always have some, often many, 'plumose' or 'feather-like' hairs, these help in collecting pollen; Wasps always have only unbranched hairs like you and me.Apis can help relieve the stinging pain after vaccinations. It works really well - especially after a Tetanus shot (ouch!).

This product looks great, I could use some. When I was running through our backyard I actually ran right into a wasp, who stung me right on the lip. My lip was swollen for the whole day! Posted June 23, 2008 |

Oh my goodness, Rya. I'm glad she was OK. I have a son who is allergic to bee stings and I always get nervous in the summer. He has an EpiPen, but it's still scary. If just one person can read this lens and be helped by it - then I'll be a happy camper. Posted June 02, 2008 |

Useful pointers--apis saved my mom from blacking out due to bee stings a number of times--she still had to get medical treatment, but it greatly lessened the severity of her reaction. Glad to see people getting the word out :) Posted June 01, 2008 |
