Apocalyptica

Formed in the early '90s Apocalyptica chose an entirely individual path from day one. A few years earlier, while students at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, these young virtuosos joined a cello band that specialized in playing music by everyone from Bach to Hendrix. However, Eicca Toppinen and his three comrades had something louder in mind. All fans of heavy metal, they decided to form their own band. Toppinen wrote some unique arrangements of songs by Metallica, Slayer and other metallic legends and the group embarked on a series of shows at student balls. As their services became more and more in demand, Apocalyptica took the bold step of playing a gig at a bona fide heavy metal club.

"I'm Not Jesus" is a song by the Finnish cello metal band Apocalyptica

The single was released on September 17, 2007 off the album Worlds Collide.

Featuring Corey Taylor from Slipknot/Stone Sour. The single was released on September 17, 2007 off the album Worlds Collide.

The song thematizes child-abuse through clerics. Corey Taylor sings from the perspective of a man who has been abused by a priest when he was a child and now confronts his torturer. The music video also shows children from the streets and a few of the kids suffered from neglect and ran away to make a living in bad parts of the city. Some were also abused or failed to show good expectation from their parents and were drowned but escaped. Before the ending choruses a boy seems to look like a bully and gives a nasty look. But in the end they all gang up to show the audience that they are family protecting each other, something that before all the children met wished they had.

The song was co-writen by Filter guitarist and composer Geno Lenardo and vocalist Johnny Andrews.
