God or no God?

Religion and the part it plays in conflict is a huge concern. There is no 'your God and my God'. For all people of monotheistic religions, God is ONE and the same.

I do not hate religions. I hate what people do with them. More, I hate the abuse of Human Rights. To me, imposed religions are the first abuses of Human Rights.

I have, never in my life, been able to believe in such God. To be totally accurate, when I say 'never', I mean since I started to read and write, play the piano and meet with Life. By Life I mean human beings, animals, plants, - including the poisonous variety - flowers, mountains, lakes and seas, health and illness, happiness and un-happiness, justice and injustice, car, train and other vehicle accidents, natural catastrophes, earthquakes, lightning, floods, erupting volcanoes, torrential rains, draughts, war and peace.
To me, nothing, absolutely nothing of what happens to us, or happens to Earth, is the will of a God. I believe in Nature and in Evolution. To me, there are un-controlled Forces of Nature that determine changes in our environment, our planet, and then, there is the Universal, Mystic Law of Cause and Effect. Whether 'Nature' produced or 'Man produced' what we live and experience is always the effect of a cause.

Books

Description:
Dear Ahed is a collection of radical, compassionate essays interspersed with letters to a Palestinian, Ahed Hussein, who has suffered greatly from the effects of war. The author, who has spent much time in the conflict areas of the world, demonstrates that through education and understanding the way words are used, a society could be created free from war. Alberto Portugheis, who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 2008, explores how and why language is used to separate societies, control and antagonize people. He demonstrates how educated and talented writers, with the assistance of psychologists and scientists who have great expertise on "mind control", help politicians organise chaos, violence and wars as they use techniques to create fear in the population, so that they can offer protection. The book is dedicated to Ahed Hussein and to all people who are seeking Peace and Truth. This is the Peace Proposal the World is waiting for.

Dear Ahed... The Game of War and a Path to Peace

An extract from my book:

Religions always teach 'they' have the Truth, implying other religions do not have it; therefore people practicing other religions are wrong or inferior. History is so connected to religion and murder that authorities insist on teaching the Inquisition and the Holocaust, so as to remind the world of what Christians thought of Jews.

The Crusades teach Christians hatred of Muslims and vice-versa. In parts of Spain to this day, anniversaries of battles between Catholics and Muslims are remembered, with populations disguised half as Catholics, half as Muslims, each group dressed differently, but all wearing 'masks' so as to not to recognize each other. They then proceed to hit each other with dozens of different tools or gadgets, many ending up in hospital each year.

Church and State

Is there a separation between the two?

If Church and State were really separate, we would not have the Head of the Church of England, the Archbishop of Canterbury, chosen by a Church Commission that meets in Parliament and is formed by, mainly, politicians.

It has been put to me that in Islam there is no separation between religion and politics, that Caesar has nothing, since everything belongs to God. This is a big contradiction! If there were no separation, then everything would belong to everybody. In reality, nothing belongs to God and everything belongs to Caesar; that is to man or men.

Does any religion teach the truth?

It is not that I oppose religion 'per se'. To me, all religions are true. But the wars they cause are also horribly true.

Dear Ahed.. The Game of War and A Path to Peace

A discussion

A recent writer to the London Evening Standard asked who could replace 'Pinter Politics' now that the great playwright had died. Pinter, whose Nobel Speech hammered nail after nail into the Establishment, made clear that those interested in power are not interested in truth but in the maintenance of power, needing people to be in ignorance of the 'vast tapestry of lies upon which we feed'. It could be argued that Alberto Portugheis, with his new book, Dear Ahed%u2026 the Game of War and a Path to Peace is there to fill that political void.

My book, Dear Ahed, is a collection of radical, compassionate essays interspersed with letters to a Palestinian, Ahed Hussein, who has suffered greatly from the effects of war. I have spent much time in the conflict areas of the world, and have learned that through education and understanding the way words are used, a society could be created free from war.
