iPhone 3G backup batteries - convenience worth the price
iPhone 3G is out and as usual, Apple did a great job.
3G is fast, pretty, I like the screen a lot.
Applications, and I don't mean just games, are finally starting to be really useful.
With all that's going on, it's really easy to drain the batteries. My batteries seem to always go out at the worst possible time. But keeping iPhone plugged in at all times is simply not possible.
Backup batteries are the solution.
While, in general, I am opposed to additional gizmos, doodads, etc, getting a backup battery make life a lot easier.

iPhones - cost comparison
Here are the numbers for those who are curious:
Old iPhone: $399 (for 8GB of storage)
$60 per month for 450 voice minutes and unlimited data: $1440
Two-year total (two-year contract required): $1,839.
New iPhone 3G: $199 (for 8GB of storage)
plus $70 per month for a basic voice plan (the same 450 minutes ?) and unlimited data: $ 1680
Two-year total (two-year contract required): $1,879.
New cheaper iPhone 3G costs $40 more. Not a big difference, but so much for the "cheaper" part.

Discounted Apple gft cards
Gift cards are here to stay.
Fortunately, some people prefer cash to a gift card - even if it's less than the face value of gift card. So there is a lively market in discounted gift cards - instead of waiting for Apple to come up with a sale - buy a discounted gift card and give yourself a sale of your own.
