A Twist on Everyone's Favorite Thanksgiving Carb - Stuffing!
This recipe is the perfect update on everyone's 2nd favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner, the stuffing!
Spiced apple and fresh pear will give this dish a flavorful punch that will carry on through the turkey as well!
Ingredients for Apple Pear Stuffing
Simple fresh ingredients make this perfect for Thanksgiving (or any turkey recipe!)
- 16 cups cubed whole wheat, italian, or french bread
- 1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) butter
- 1 cup diced white onion
- 1 cup diced yellow onion
- 4 stalks celery, cut
- 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced into wedges and cubes
- 2 Green Pears, peeled and cored, diced
- 1 tabelspoons parsley
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon rosemary
- 1 tablespoon ground thyme
- 2 tablespoons sea salt
- 2 teaspoons coarse ground black pepper
- 1 cup chicken stock

How to make this easy Thanksgiving recipe...
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.Place all of the breadcrumbs on a baking sheet. Bake for approximately 8 minutes.
In a saucepan, melt the butter and add the spices, pepper, salt, and vegetables. Add the fruit, then saute the vegetables for about ten minutes. Add approximately 1 tablespoon of extra butter if the mixture becomes dry during heating. After ten minutes, the mixture should be soft.
Combine with the cooked bread crumbs and chicken stock. Stuff your bird as normal! This recipe should cover a 10-15 pound bird. For larger birds, be sure to double this recipe, since everyone will want seconds!
