The Best Way to Slice, Peel, and Core Apples

Fresh apples, are crisp, juicy, sweet, and tart all at the same time. They're wonderful. But peeling and coring them is not so wonderful. Unless, of course, you've got the right tools.

Apple peelers and corers make it easy to make the perfect apple pie, apple tart, or just plain apples and honey for the holidays.

This page features apple corers, apple corer/dlividers, and apple peelers that peel, core, and slice the apples all at once.

This thing is great. You just push down (firmly) on the apple and it slices itself into 8 perfect pieces. Cores it too. All you have to do is arrange the apples on a plate, toss them in a bag (for a snack), or pop them in your mouth.

This apple corer has a unique "release" lever that pushes out the core of the apple. It grabs with core with a suction action (sort of like a wine cork coming out of a bottle). Just use the serrated tip to break the skin, then push, and twist slightly. Voila! Your apple is cored. Watch the video to see how it works.

This peeler works differently from most other peelers. It holds the apple upright (instead of sideways), And, the blade is wider, so it works better with larger apples (and peels faster too). It does look a bit, well, odd, but the gears are fun to watch. It doesn't work as well on potatoes as some of the other peelers though.

Do you have any of these apple peelers and corers? How do you use them?

We used to have one of the traditional Apple Peelers, only ever used it twice, waste of time. I can peel them using a potato peeler if I have to easily enough. I find a corer works ok, provided the apple isn't too big. If I am eating apples raw I usually cut them into 4 and take the core out then, very easy, no special tools required. Nicely done. Blessed.

If I'm eating them raw, I usually just eat them. For apples and honey on Rosh Hashanah the slicer is essential! Lots and lots of apples. And, for pie or apple crumble, my hand hurts doing it manually. You must have stronger hands!

I use corer and divider often, it's the best tool when I need to quickly give my kids some apples. Great ideas here, Squid Angel blessed :)

I just use my knife, but I'm sure I'm going to need to get myself one soon while my business starts taking off.

I love to cook (and eat). Luckily, I live in New York City, where there's lots of wonderful food. My cat, Paris, thinks it's all for him!
