Applebees Restaurants

Applebee's is one of the largest restaurant chains in the world, with restaurant in the United States and internationally. The franchise was started in 1985 and in 1986 the name became Applebee's Neighborhood bar and grill. On our most recent view to a local Applebee's (one we hadn't visited before in Latham New York) we were pleased to see that the sluggish economy wasn't hurting their business that night. That is either a good sign that things are picking up, a tribute to this particular restaurant, or maybe the new special. I tend to think it may be a combination of all three.

At this time, Applebee's promotion is the 2 for $20 deal. You get 2 dinners and 1 appetizer for $20. The dinner choices included: a 7oz sirloin, crispy shrimp, riblet basket, chicken fingers basket, oriental chicken salad, grilled chicken caesar salad, fiesta lime chicken, bacon cheeseburger and three cheese chicken penne. The appetizer choices were spinach and artichoke dip, crunchy onion rings, boneless Buffalo wings and mozzarella sticks. The regular menu includes: steaks, salads, ribs, fajitas, chicken, seafood, pasta, burger, sandwiches and a kids menu. This is topped off of course, with desserts and drinks.

We chose 2 steaks, 1 riblet basket and 1 chicken caesar salad. For appetizers, we got the onion rings and spinach and artichoke dip. We also decided to get two chocolate chip cookie sundaes. It was a lot of food, but since we had a gift card, we decided, why not?
The food was very good and was certainly plentiful. The only complaint being that the medium cooked steaks were too rare and had to be sent back for a few more minutes of cooking. The salad was large, the riblets came with French fries and the two steaks with your choice of potato (we both chose garlic mashed) and steamed vegetables.
Both the appetizers were plentiful and enough for four people to share. The bill was $68 and included three sodas also (free refills), which amounts to $17 per person for dinner, a good deal these days even without a gift card. Applebee's has yet to disappoint!
For those who would like takeout, Applebee's also offers Carside to Go. You can order from their menu and pick it up at the restaurant. They even have special parking places designated for Carside to Go patrons. They aim to please. The minimum gift card purchase is $5 and the maximum appears to be $500.

I do not believe that our local Applebees has any Weight Watchers desserts on the menu at this time.
