Marinating tips for steaks!

Great tips!

1. The best cuts are flank, sirloin and round for grilling Surprisingly tougher meats can be better for grilling than more expensive cuts.

2. What ever marinate you choose remember this tip, adding something acidic like lemon juice to your recipe will help make your steaks even more tender.

3. Put the steaks in a freezer bag or container and make sure all sides are covered.

4. How long do I marinate? How long is enough or too long? The answer is 2-24 hours, do not go beyond this time or they will get mushy.

Applebee's Bourbon Street Steak

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients, except the steaks, in a baking dish or resealable plastic storage bag. Mix well.

  2. Add the steaks; cover (or seal) and refrigerate for 2 hours (or overnight).

  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  4. Grill the steaks until they are cooked to your liking (generally 12-15 minutes), turning them over half way through the grilling.

To make this dish even more like the actual Applebee's Recipe, serve over a bed of sauteed onions and mushrooms. Accompany with garlic mashed potatoes and Texas toast. Mmmmm....

they don't use straight steak, they add plenty of water solution to it. Applebee's is no steak house that's for sure. If you're going to use real steak, better off with a real recipe.
