Welcome To My Lens!

Hi, I'm Emily. I created this lens for people who don't know much about Apple products. To find out about Apple and the kind of products it manufactures, read on!

By the way, I created this lens at Marley Perkins Education, which provides private tuition in Christchurch, New Zealand. If you'd like to find out more about Marley Perkins, please go to Marley Perkins Education.

History of Apple Inc

Apple Inc used to be called Apple Computers Inc. but dropped the word computer because it wanted to expand its products beyond just computers. This American company was established in 1976. Steve Jobs (pictured) was a co-founder and is still the CEO today.

Apple Products

Apple designs and manufactures software products such as:
The Mac OS operating system
iTunes
iLife
Final Cut Studio

There are three main electronic products:
Mac computers
iPods
iPhone

Mac Computers
The first Macintosh computer was called 128K. It was the first computer to ever feature a mouse. Apple now make: Macbooks, Macbook Air, Macbook Pro and the iMac. Macbooks are portable laptop computers, and the iMac is a desktop computer.

Ipods
An ipod is a portable media player. (That's my iPod in the picture!) You may use your own CDs to put music on an ipod or find music on the software itunes. The ipod was launched October 2001 and by September 2007 there were more than 150 million ipods sold world-wide.
There are 4 types of iPods: the iPod Classic, iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano, and the iPod Touch.
You may use your own CDs to put music on an iPod, or find music on the iTunes software.

iPhones
The iPhone was announced on 9 Jan 2007, and the 3G version was launched on July 11 2008. iPhones are internet connected, multimedia, smart phones with a touch screen. Some features of an iPhone are: camera phone, portable media player, text messaging, visual voicemail, email, web browsing and a virtual keyboard onscreen.

It's Amazing How Quickly Things Change!

Technology changes so quickly that none of these Apple produces were around when my parents were children. It's hard to keep up with all the changes because one minute they might be in, and the next minute they're out again!
