I am a 19 year old fourth year electrical apprentice, with about 6 months to go until i am a qualified tradesman. I left my job because i had a dodgey boss who is now out of business in Febuary and have not been able to get a job since. All i need is someone to finish my apprenticeship. i live directly between the Gols Coast and Brisbane, with about 20 minutes travelling each way. The person who takes me on will get i think about $2000 from the government just for employing me, and then another $4000 i think when they finish me, plus they only have to pay me apprentice wages for tradesman work. if anyone is in need of a tradesman/ fourth year electrician, please contact me at: hannibalhulk@hotmail.com

Apprentices do good.!!
Construction Community with a big heart! In recent weeks, the Sunshine Coast community experienced one of the biggest trade volunteer and community (charity) domestic housing projects. In November 2008, over a hundred local construction tradespeople from all trade areas combined to make a large workforce donating their time and expertise to renovate the family home of young Tourettes Syndrome sufferer Bianca Saez.
After years of suffering from tics and uncontrolled outbursts, the family house was a great deal worse for wear. Even before the Domestic Blitz Team from the Channel 9 television program put out a call for local help, the family was simply overwhelmed by offers of help ranging from tradespeople, to cooks and many more.
Group Training - Maintaining their Community Organisation Roots!
East Coast Apprenticeships have a long history of volunteering for community projects. The GTO prides itself in its response to local community or charity needs and playing an active role within their local community regions. In this project, it was a case of no hesitations and ECA offered apprentices to work along side other tradespeople on the project. In addition, even the office staff from East Coast namely Rose, gave her time to help prepare and cook BBQ's to keep the volunteers happily fed!
A considerable amount of time and labour was donated to the project by East Coast Apprenticeships. In all nearly 3 weeks of fulltime labour donated by the management as well as time by the office staff undertaking whatever task they could help with.
Why did East Coast Management feel the need to play such a large role in the project? Mr Alan Sparks CEO of East Coast Apprenticeships commented "No one could have watched the 60 Minute item on Bianca without feeling for the plight of this brave family. When I rang to offer help I was told that there had been an overwhelming response. We offered what we could to this chorus of volunteers."
"It was remarkable watching the project progress with the support of hundreds of trades and volunteers. I can't help commenting on the spontaneous response from our apprentices in giving their all to this community event. Michael (Peanuts) in particular, as a carpentry apprentice still in probation, will remember this experience for the rest of his life."
"Group Training has a unique capacity and an innate spirit to give back to the communities that support us. We should nurture this community spirit in our apprentices at every opportunity."
The experience of working alongside Scott Cam, the resident builder on the TV Show was an exciting prospect for one particular ECA Apprentice Carpenter. 'Peanuts' as he was affectionately named by the TV crew after a round of practical jokes, describes his experiences on the projects as one of the highlights in his time spent in a trade so far. His enthusiasm and pride for the work completed and the part he played in lending a hand to a family who had been through rough times can be viewed from his personal account.
