    What a fun lens! And what sweet memories your grandkids will have for decades to come. My favorite April Fool's jokes were in Family Fun a couple of years ago - a cake that looked like a hamburger and a hamburger that looked like a cake. Very cute. My grandkids giggled over that for days!

    We play tricks on each other year round at our house. Mostly by hiding food and pretending we're out of something. Hope your April Fool's Day went smoothly.

    I worked at a company that would put a cardboard box on someone's desk when they were "pink slipped". ON April Fools Day, EVERYONE came in to a box on their desk. April Fool's.

    First of all, Happy Birthday Joan!!! I am new to Squidoo and found you through a quest. I am so glad that I did. My mom and dad just celebrated 54 years of marriage and my dad is the ultimate prankster as well. I think he got it from his dad. From the time I was 3 yrs old or so, visiting my grandparents, my sis would sleep with my Mema and I with my Pepa. We would wait the 'appropriate amount of time' then crawl it to where my sister and Mema 'slept'. Reaching from the foot of the bed, under the sheet to tickle unsuspecting feet. After seeing your lens, the lens that I posted this am is extremely 'rookie' material. Yet just telling this little story has reminded me of so many similar stories that i can add to my lens. Thank you for all of the giggles...I know that I will check in on you often from here on.

    Great lens. I did the kitchen faucet prank on my husband when we were first married and when he came home from work I turned the water on to make coffee and got it right in the face. I guess I was the fool that year ....

    Great lenses. We may have to grow old but we don't have to grow up.
    My favorite joke was on a friend's whose wife has her birthday on April 1st. One year her birthday was on a Saturday so our friend planned a big surprise party for her. He convinced her to go to her brother's house who lived two streets over to wait while he cooked a special dinner for her. He said he would come pick her up when the food was ready.
    We found out about the party and contacted the quests and his wife and told them to meet at the brother's house. So he is sitting at home with everything for the party waiting for the quest to show up and no one is there. They are all at the brother's house with the wife and the cars are hidden. She called him and asked him to come pick her up because she was tired. She said she could tell by his voice he was dejected because no one showed up. When he got to the bother's house and walked through the front door everyone yelled April's Fool. The look on his face made this the funniest joke I have seen on April's Fool day.

    I like telling a family member, or a friend, that "Mr. Fox called" while they were out. Then, I give them the number for the local zoo. It is a riot to watch them call the zoo and ask for Mr. Fox.

    My wife was great at pranking me, that, or I'm just really gullible. So one year I got her with a painted wooden egg, that I slipped in the fridge. I laughed hysterically as she repeatedly tapped on the edge of the frying pan, unable to crack it. What I didn't realize was that our six year old was watching and he got hold of the egg and every so often, for months after that, we would find ourselves trying to crack that egg, again. :)

    We had the whole pregnancy scare prank goin on this morning. First my 17 yeard old daughter texted me and said she took a test last night and it came up positive. Kept me goin for a while before finally telling me it was a joke. So then I called my boyfriend whom I am separated from at the time, and told him that I was, and he turned around and called his mother and told him that I was pregnant. I really dont think that it wouldnt have been as good of a prank if it hadnt worked on me then him, then his mom!!!!

    My husband has been after me for years to dye my hair blonde. Last year for April Fools I told him I was getting my hair colored. Then I spent the next couple hours hanging out at my friends house. I had bought a nice but inexpensive blonde wig that I put on just before I went home. Needless to say, he was speechless when he saw my new hairdo, and very glad it was fake.

    One year my friend and I turned all the clocks ahead in our houses the night before, even in the cars. The next morning, everyone woke up late and ran around crazy trying to get to work and school on time. When I got to the school with my kids in the back, they noticed there weren't any cars or people, but then along came my friend and her kids, so they all thought it was fine. It wasn't until they tried to get inside that they realized they'd been dubed into getting up an hour early. My husband meanwhile realized the trick when he was in his car and turned on the radio,

    Joan, if your hubby is the world's # 1 practical joker, mine was #2. His favorite day of the year was April Fool's Day. Oh, the stories I could tell. Some quite elaborate. Then I once spent 7 years working in an office filled with 'jokesters' who were nearly as inventive and outlandish as my 'home-grown' prankster!

    One interesting note - hubby's birthday was 3rd week in February, but for some strange reason my mother could never remember which day. After years of being 'late' with birthday cards, she finally gave up and decided to CHANGE his birthday to a day she COULD remember -- April Fool's Day -- it became the family joke. And, every year he'd get a birthday card from her on April 1st. So, I'll be able to remember your upcoming birthday really easily. :-) Happy Birthday (soon) and watch out for those faucets and car door handles!!!

    I've always been partial to sour cream + small Styrofoam balls to make cottage cheese for the salad bar. But these days it would probably get you fired and lead to a lawsuit.

    I'm not a practical joke fan, but my husband is. Fortunately he respects my feelings on the matter and keeps the joking to other places. It's also fortunate that since we don't have kids anymore, he forgets all about April Fool's Day and so do I. Our bookselling lists were full of prank posts yesterday, though.

    One year my family hid my car ... moved it from the driveway to the back yard in the wee hours of the morning. I went out the door in a rush on my way to the office and OH NO! NO CAR!     This happened to a friend of mine today. One of her kids secretly put salt in the sugar bowl. Later, ANOTHER of her kids, pulling the same prank, poured what he "thought" was sugar, back into the sugar bag, and refilled the sugar bowl with salt. :-) Now she had a bag full of sugar mixed with salt!! I laugh about it everytime I think of it!! So funny!! Congratulations of LotD!!

    Make him a "special" grilled cheese sandwich. Cut a piece of cardboard smaller than the bread. Tear the american cheese in strips to go around the outside edges of the cardboard, so when it melts in the pan it holds the two pieces of bread together. Fry as normal, serve and stand back and laugh when he tries to bite a piece off.

    Happy Birthday, Joan!! The pranks reminded me of some of the things our kids used to pull on each other. One evening, my two children and Bill's two children banned together and came to us. "We have decided we want to be a family...what are you two going to do about it?" However, it was no prank...they were serious!! Bill said, "Well, ya gonna marry me or not?" I threw caution to the wind and said yes. That happened 22 years ago today.

    Our favorite family joke was pulled on my husband at work years ago. He was expecting a phone call from someone, whose name he didn't know, from a company he did business with. When he received a written phone message to call Mr. Lyon, he assumed that was the man. He dialed the number on the message and asked for Mr. Lyon. Yep, it was the number of the local zoo! Bet that wasn't their only call that day, either. He still tells that story every year.

    The real 'fools' are those who cannot appreciate a good laugh, and the real 'blind' are those with vision yet still cannot 'see' the real meaning in life. How special to be born on April 1st! Joan is a VERY wise woman, never be fooled. Such a refreshing attitude here on this 5 star lens.

    Very funny... One of the best April fools pranks I have heard about is from an Impov group called Improv Everywhere. They are an improv group that uses live people and they create scenes in public. On April 1, 2009, they got about 30 actors and went to a 'random' funeral and pretended to grieve for the deceased. It was covered by the local news, everyone was outraged. It turns out that, the funeral was not random, it was staged too. The jokes was on the news station. The hoax was hilarious.

    Well, Kiwisoutback got me good yesterday! I had sent Bill a message because I had feared that a comment I made on one of his lenses might be misinterpreted. I had noticed that he had given North Carolina their own module on his travel lens and not South Carolina even though he wrote beautifully about our coastal region. Anyway this is the response I got and I have to tell you that my heart sunk:
    Nancy,Now that you mention it, I was kind of offended by your comments. I will delete the guestbook entry and... April Fool's! Just kidding!

    Best April Fool's Joke EVER in my life: I was in the 3rd Grade. I had my 35 cents for lunch ready to turn in for my lunch ticket as I did every morning in class. (Yeah, it was a long time ago, back when we had REAL LIVE lunch ladies who actually COOKED for us little twerps.) My teacher did the roll call and the normal morning routine, then casually said, "I hope you all remembered to bring your lunch today since the cafeteria is closed."

    All 17 of us (because nobody brought lunch in those days of GOOD FOOD at school) looked up with a deer-in-the-headlights look of panic as we imagined NO LUNCH and felt confused because we didn't remember any announcement.

    Lucky for us, our teacher announced "April Fool!" very quickly and then we all had a good laugh.

    Love this lens, Joan, you get another 5* from me!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOAN! Since you are the good humor lady, it just seems perfect that your birthday is on April Fool's Day. I love that your husband is still able to get you every year. It sounds like you are neutralizing land mines and just when you think you are home free.......well, he got you again and he's even training the troops to help out.     When I was a hippie and lived on a commune, it was April Fools Day and one of the guys thought it would be real funny to put syrup around the outhouse seat. Well, I was the one who had to go and sat in it. I had to go back into the cook house with my pants down to get cleaned up in the kitchen. All the while, all the guys were sitting waiting for me to return. Oh, they got a big kick out of watching me clean up. - It was the most embarrassing moment in my life than and still is. - Hope your husband doesn't read this! - hehehe :)

    Peanut butter or whipped cream on the receiver of a landline telephone, then calling from your cellphone. Works great! However, don't be too generous with the topping, I ruined a phone once doing this. Happy April Fools!
