So who is this aquariann character?

aquariann, a combination of my sun sign and middle name, is the alter ego that's given me the courage to share my art with the world.

I've always been on the shy side and have used my creativeness to quietly express myself. I've wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember, and art just came along for the ride and kind of borrowed the wheel. In elementary school, my friends and I used to make up hordes of characters to write into a young adult series. However, I spent way more time drawing the characters and their situations than actually writing about them - a realization that occurred to me much later. It wasn't until college that it dawned on me to seriously try drawing - thanks to a new addiction to anime and comic books, the discovery of modern fantasy artists such as Amy Brown and Jessica Galbreth, and many art history classes where I got to drool over the beauty of 10,000 years of work.

I've been planning to draw a dragon for each birthstone for awhile now. My Peridot dragon was a big hit, but I'm torn which month to do next. Please help me to decide by voting!

about Aware

"Aware" is a breast cancer awareness fairy inspired by my mom, a survivor of more than 15 years. The lump was discovered in her breast back in 1994, but was misdiagnosed as benign until six months later. I was in 7th grade at the time, and have never been more scared in my life. The most vivid memory I have of that time isn't waiting in the hospital or helping with the drainage tube - it was when she had to cut her hair because of the chemo. Her hair had flowed to her knees the entire 13 years I'd known her and seeing her without it was a big change. I can't even begin to imagine how tough it was for her to recover from cancer. She is an incredibly strong woman. $5.00 from every 8x10 print of "Aware" sold on aquariann.etsy.com will be donated to Women Supporting Women

bookmarks on aquariann.etsy.com

All of my bookmarks are digitally printed on the back of scrapbook paper, laminated with my Xyron 900, and adorned with decorative yarn, which may vary from one shown in picture. I round the corners myself, so the edges are imperfect. Each measures approximately 2.25"x7" and comes in a protective sleeve.

Every time a comment is made, a fairy gets its wings ... okay, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but the support does encourage me to draw more! Thank you so much to everyone that visits, even those shying back in the shadows.
