Do I need water filtration for my home?

Most people in the U.S. take the quality of their tap water quality for granted. It looks clear, doesn't smell too bad, and hasn't hurt anybody that you know of. I am not here to tell you that your water is bad. What I am suggesting is that you research the quality of your water too see if filtration is something that you might need. Different areas around the country have concerns that warrant attention. I live in Florida. The water here is always warm, which means that the water treatment facilities add more disinfectants to the water to kill viruses and bacteria. This is a very good thing, but the downside is all of the chemicals that they use to protect us end up in our drinking water and shower water. Chlorine and Chloramines are very good at killing viruses and bacteria. People need to be aware that over long periods of exposure, these chemicals have been found to possibly damage the human body. Some people never get sick, some are always sick. It all depends on the individual on how these chemicals are going to affect them. Do some research and see what possible concerns are in your area, and if you should take action. The EPA.GOV State Water Link is a great site for information on state water issues. Read your local newspapers for possible reports on water quality issues. Good luck to you and yours.
