Architectural Models and Bookends
I made her rummage through her yet to be unpacked luggage to find her receipt so I could make my own trek to the place where she had bought it the next time I was in London myself. Â But by the time I got over there we'd both lost the information and I had no idea who had created these brilliant models.
Well, it turns out it was Timothy Richards. I just happened to come across his architectural models on the web and I immediately recognized the one my friend had bought.
So now, I bring them to you.

Sir John Soane's Museum Architectural Sculpture By Timothy Richards
Sir John Soane (1753-1837) was a leading exponent of the Classical Revival Movement. He built this house at 13 Lincoln's Inn Fields in two phases, 1808-9 and 1812. From the very beginning Sir John permitted access to his home to his students so that they could study his extensive collection of books, casts and models. In 1833 Soane negotiated an Act of Parliament to settle and preserve the house and collection for the benefit of 'amateurs and students' in architecture, painting and sculpture. On his death in 1837 the Act came into force, vesting the Museum in a board of Trustees who were to continue to uphold Soane's own aims and objectives. The building is still preserved much as he had left it in 1837.

A Signed Dated Limited Edition Model of Spencer House By Timothy Richards
$700 John Spencer initially employed the Palladian architect John Vardy, a pupil of William Kent. Vardy was responsible for the external elevations of Spencer House and the design of the ground floor rooms including some of the furniture. James 'Athenian' Stuart, then newly returned from Greece, superseded Vardy as Lord Spencer's architect in 1758. As a result, the House became the first example in London of the application of accurate Greek detail to interior decoration, making it one of the pioneer examples of neo-classical architecture. Timothy Richards has succeeded in capturing the spirit of this fine building in incredible detail. This limited edition has flashing and statuary details in sheet and cast lead.

This great Palladian house, surrounded by magnificent park land, was built between 1722-35 for Sir Robert Walpole. Both James Gibbs and Colen Campbell were involved in the design, while Thomas Ripley was responsible for the actual construction.

Signed Limited Edition Model of New York Substation By Timothy Richards
$650 This model was inspired by a visit to New York by Tim in 1997. "The door seemed to capture the mood and is a threshold which divides the dark subways beneath from towering walls above. Its vandalised mesh fence, rivet welded inner door and no active driveway signs seemed to characterise the threat and excitement of downtown Manhattan. If Gotham City does exist it must be reached through such a portal."
