In addition to downloading media straight from the Archos 605 WiFi content portal, you can stream and watch videos from your home PC or laptop. For added video playback versatility, the player is compatible with MPEG4, AVI, and WMV video files. The Archos 605 WiFi player features robust music playback features, too. On-board music file playback capabilities support MP3, CBR, VBR, WMA, protected WMA, and WAV files.

To help round out the player's multimedia superiority, the Archos 605 WiFi even comes with photo viewing capabilities. JPEG, BMP, and PNG files are 100 percent compatible with the player, and the player can pull up PDFs for portable review -- an ideal means to take bigger documents or e-books in PDF format on the road with you. Because of the Archos 605 WiFi USB 2.0 compatibility, files can be quickly transferred to the device in the absence of a Wi-Fi network connection. Charging the device can also be accomplished with an active USB connection. An AC adapter is sold separately for additional charging options. Other great features include mass storage capabilities, automatic firmware downloads, and a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack. With an advanced Li-Poly battery, the player supports up to 17 hours of continuous music playback and 5.5 hours of continuous video playback. Weighing in at a scant 9.17 ounces, the Archos generation 5 605 measures 4.8 by 3.2 by 0.6 inches.

The screen size is perfect for watching videos while traveling. This player works flawlessly, and the video quality is great. It's like watching a handheld TV. This thing is the best in class I will by the next model they release as well and use this one as my GPS yes it does GPS as well as DVR as well as MP3 I surf the internet on my 37" TV using DVR station and remote who else can do that not Ipod not Creative wish more companies supported this with a docking station who reads these get it done.

I use this product primarily as a video player. Video is what this thing was meant to play. Plays every file type so far (divx, mp4, avi and a ton more.)Picture quality is superb. As a picture viewer it is also great. Has the ipod style swipe your finger to see the next pic. Not meant to be a dedicated mp3 player, it's a little bulky for that. Although it does allow you to set up playlists so you can press play, put it in your pocket, and listen away. Wifi is great. the antena is not the strongest but what do you expect. I purchased the DVR dock(which I recommend) hooked it up to my tv and record shows, surf the web, check e-mail and watch streaming video all from my couch. The only thing I don't like if I have to...is that the start up process is a bit longer than I would like.(Nothing that I can't deal with). Overall I recommend this product strongly. Oh, sound quality is not the best but I don't need perfect surround sound or ear blasting volume on a portable device.
