Are You Tired Of Feeling Like That Guy?

Air & Fuel...Do They Mix?

let's hope so!

type=textWe are going to look at one of the basic fundamentals of the combustion engine that powers your car, provided your car requires a fossil fuel to operate it. (it's not solar or electric) Air and fuel are necessary for the hole process to occur to start with. The appropriate mixture ratio of 14.7:1 (14.7parts air/ 1 part fuel) has been used for years as the optimum ratio for fuel economy and performance. Don't worry that is about as technical as we are going to get today.

Your car needs the right amount of clean air to operate effeciently no matter what brand of vechicle you drive. The first thing the air encounters when entering the engine is the Air Filter. A good filters' objective is to allow as much air as possible to pass through it, while not allowing dirt or foriegn particles into your engine. The term "air filter" is probally not new to most of you however, we sometimes forget just how important a clean quality air filter is.

You Can Do It

Have You Checked You Air Filter Lately?

Wheter you have done it before or not...You are in charge!

type=textFor those of you that have not had the occasion to admire, one of your cars' most important parts, this is for you. Most makes and models can be accessed from under your cars hood. If any tool is required to check your filter, it is probally nothing more than a phillips or flat head screwdriver. However, a small 3/8 drive rachet and socket set is not a bad thing to have around the house anyway. If you don't aready know where the filter is located, it should be in your owners manual under routine maintenace or find a component/part locator for your car online.(more about that later).

Air Filter Which One?

Be prepared!

Alot of vehicles come with more than one air filter these days, especially your higher end sedans and suvs. Don't panic there is a reasonable explaination for this and a simple way to differentiate between them. The second filter I am refering to is usually called a cabin air filter and is located inside your car, usually under the dash however, some are also under the hood (refer to your owner's manual ). It's primary function is to filter the air that is being recirculated inside you car. We will come back to this filter in a later module. Just besure to specify the correct one when ordering online.

Alittle More About Me

the short version

I have recently been looking for different ways to accomplish some goals I've had most of my life and yet to fufill. Traveling the world, starting with 30 of the states that I haven't visited yet, and sharing my talents where ever and when ever I can. I enjoy learning about different cultures and meeting people that share the same zest for life.

Growing up in a college town, I got to meet people from all over the world through my familys' business. My father serviced and repaired many of the professors' and exchange students vehicles. We had quite a few families stay in our home over the years from atleast 10 different countries. I attended college for 5yrs only to wind up in the family business, which I ran for several years before I ventured out on my own and got married.

I have three beautiful children, the youngest will turn 4 yrs old in August my first girl, her older brothers are 16 and 17. Life has been on hold for a few years now but, I hoping through an online business I can fufill some of my dreams and provide for my family at the same time. I'm looking forward to meeting people even if it is online for now, I toured playing music for several years and met alot then, but now I work in front of a computer screen.
Thanks for taking a few minutes to listen, I look forward to hearing from you guys! Love the Squidoo community, everybody is so nice and helpful it has been a pleasure so far.
Thanks again!
