Ariel Cake | Little Mermaid Cakes

Wilton Ariel Cake Pan
Aluminum Wilton Ariel cake pan measures approximately 11" wide x 12" high x 2" deep and fits one box of cake mix.

For this cake you'll also need the following supplies:

• Wilton Decorating Bags and Couplers or Parchment Triangles
• Decorating Tips 3, 16, 21
• Wilton Disney Princess Icing Color Kit (copper (skin tone), red, and teal)
• Wilton Icing Colors in Rose, Lemon Yellow, Black and Violet
• Wilton Cake Board
• Wilton Decorator Brush Set
• Cornstarch
• Light corn syrup
• One box of cake mix
• 5 cups buttercream icing

For best results, keep the prepared icing refrigerated when you're not using it. This buttercream recipe can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. When you're ready to use it after keeping it refrigerated, whip again for a few minutes. Makes 3 cups. Thin the icing with light corn syrup for icing cake or use as prepared for decorating.

• 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
• 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
• 4 cups (1 lb.) sifted confectioners' sugar
• 2 tablespoons milk
• 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract

Cream butter and shortening with electric mixer. Add vanilla. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well on medium speed. Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often. When all sugar has been mixed in, icing will appear dry. Add milk and beat at medium speed until light and fluffy.
