Renaissance Festivals are important for linking past, present and future. Congrads on your Squidoo Trophy. Am going for my next one. Conversations helps with new ideas. THanks.

This fair is the greatest my family and I go every year, rain or shine, and we eat the awesome food, drink the great drinks, watch the great shows, pay for some of the attractions, and even buy some merchandise; everything from dragon puppets to swords to cups hats and singing bowls. With the exception of my mother we also dress up my sister as a pirate, or a lady . . . my brother as a samurai or a ranger . . . my father as a monk or a rouge with a sword . . . then there's me every year i have added a piece to what i wear and so far it is from head to toe a chain mail coif, an arming cap, an arming gambeson, 18 gauge steel pauldrons, rerebraces, courtours and vambraces for both arms, gloves, suede pants, a very sharp sword and boots. some of this was purchased like the armour as it is expensive and can only be done piece by piece and some of it is made like the arming wear and the pants. at the end of the day we're tired and our feet are sore i'm sweating a bit as you can imagine we come out with more than we went in with and our wallets a lot lighter but all in all we just spent a whole day from opening to closing walking around seeing the sights getting some laughs spending time as a family (together and wandering off) being entertained by people that obviously love what they do and to us the cost doesn't matter cause it was worth it. every penny.

P.S. here is a pic of my outfit.

This is a waste of money. Ya, its neat, but waaayy too expensive. I dont understand why they charge to get in when they KILL you with prices on everything else. If you have $300 to spend in one day, have fun. We will never do this again and will spend our money elsewhere. SAVE YOUR MONEY

I agree things are pricey there, but certainly no more than if you went to a ballgame, the state fair, or something similar. The real way they get you is if you bring kids, because they will want to do *everything*, and all of them are priced like carnival games/rides, except for the shows, jousts and petting zoo which are free. This does add up. Food and drinks are no more expensive than any other outdoor venue, and although some of the artisan items are very expensive (and of good value), a lot of bargains can be found too.

To be fair, I will recommend that people walk around the whole place their first time to see what all is going on, because the sheer size of the place, and the desire to buy when you see it the first time quickly drains your pockets. Scout the Faire first, then start buying.

This looks fun! We live "up the hill" in Flagstaff, so we could definitely go to this festival. I'm making a note of the date. It would be a great excuse to head down there to warm up a bit this winter.
