Types of Army Uniform
something about the patterns of the army uniforms and the way that they evolve speaks loads about the country it represents, the technology that develops behind the uniforms and the effortful process of making the uniform.
over time, the manner in which a uniform is tested can be divided into the following phases. firstly, a particular design is decided for a certain location and terrain. next, the pattern is printed onto the uniforms and manufactured for the troops. these uniforms will be tested in the respective terrains and feedback is given. should this pattern be effective, it would be retained/improved upon. if the designs are not effective, they will be further modified or discarded. this is part of the generic research and development pathway that many corporations, school, and research facilities employ.
i deeply admire the work that goes into making a uniform. it not only serves as a form of identity, it also serves as a full body protection for our troops, as one of the best defenses can be understood as personal camouflage, the art of being stealthy. with about 90% of the body being covered by the uniform, there is a greater protection in being hidden from the eyes of others, as compared to wearing a bright pink suit in the lust green forests or a sparkling green suit in the hot yellow deserts.
sometimes i see this as a form of fashion, sometimes i think it as a benchmark of how our society is developing as a whole. all in all, i really fancy the work that is put into the makings of a army uniform and would love to share that love with you here. =)
enjoy! =)

Marine Pattern Camouflage
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MARPAT

the Marine Pattern Camouflage is otherwise known as the MARPAT. this digital camouflage pattern utilized by the US Marine Corps. this camouflage is 'digital' because it is composed of numerous small squarish boxes that resemble pixels of a computer screen.
This pattern is reckoned to be superior in providing camouflage to the soldiers because it replicates the lines and shapes found in the natural environment. the reason that this pattern is effective is because the eye perceives these pixels differently from the patches of color that were found on the old army uniforms.
the MARine PATterns (both the design and the manufacturing process) have been patented by the US Marine Corps. this digital pattern not only enables the soldiers to camouflage better in the natural surroundings, it also helps the soldiers to identify friendly forces.

- Very interesting! I think the bit about the pixilated camo is my best learning of the day! Clever idea for a lens. I have a favorite photo fo my grandfather in uniform -- actually dressed in his son's WWII US Army uniform.
