Ohio Active Arrest Warrants
Ohio Active Arrest Warrants
It is sometimes a misconception to walk up to a police officer and just ask them if you have an arrest warrant or not. This will indeed get you an answer but you can find yourself arrested on the spot. Doing that will not look good for you in court so it's really not recommended.
The best way to find your Ohio active arrest warrants is to call the local court house and speak with a clerk. Have your full name, date of birth and possibly your social security number ready when making the phone call. The clerk should be able to tell you why you have the warrant and which police station to turn yourself into. When you do it voluntarily, it will make a big difference when you appear in court. It looks to the judge that you are being responsible. Perhaps if you let the cops find and serve you with the warrant then it appears to the judicial system that you are guilty.
You can also search Ohio active arrest warrants through the internet. When you do this, you can find any arrest warrant on yourself or even anyone else that lives in Ohio. This makes it more convenient for you to get all your resources you may need in order such as bail money or a lawyer.

Free Public Arrest Records?
Public Arrest Records
Except where the subjects are juveniles or when it is deemed to be against public interests of security or other official proceedings, arrest records are strictly public records. That means they are freely retrievable through any legitimate means that are available to the public. By definition, they are documentations of any detention or custody taken by law enforcement, including military authorities, on grounds of suspicion or allegation of criminal violation. This record itself stands whether or not it results in incarceration, indictment, dismissal, discharge or acquittal.
Arrest records are commonly used to check out job applicants, new neighbors, friends, prospective spouse or in-laws and even tenants. It must be noted though that it is not permissible particularly in relation to employment to officially ask someone if he or she has ever been arrested. When asked in that context, it should be understood that an individual can rightfully decline to answer without any threat or repercussion.
There are a number of options to access arrest records. Free information can be obtained from police departments or even the FBI with written requests. Many of the government agencies have websites that will serve this purpose too. Fees are usually nominal if required at all. There are also private databases on the web which can be explored. Some are free, some paid and others hybrid in a sense that charges come into play depending on what level of information is sought. For example, many of the commercial information brokers online offer free searches and charge when hits are made and download of the report is ordered.

Bury my head in the sand and plead ignorance

I'm going to have to play devils advocate here and say that in some circumstances, ignoring a warrant could actually help you in a situation where your plea would be innocent. If you believe you have never ever done anything wrong, why would there be a warrant for your arrest?
Find out and be proactive in dealing with it

The courts will be more lenient if you turn yourself in. It's an act of good faith that may end up getting your sentence reduced. If you're just another dirtbag that gets picked up by the cops, they're going to throw the book at you.
Al_Graz says:
If you really think you have an arrest warrant, you HAVE to get it taken care of. Use some online tools and check for sure. Then you will be able to take the best course of action. The idea of "burying your head in the sand" is just stupid.
attorneyand says:
You will need an attorney! One of the first things to ask yourself in deciding if you should consult an attorney is: "What's at stake?" When your finances or liberties are in serious jeopardy, the obvious answer is to get legal help. But what is serious? An ordinary parking summons is a brush with the law, but you need not consult with an attorney to pay the fine or even to fight it
