Arsenal Football Club are one of the top clubs in British and world, football. They have a rich history with many great successes in both the English league and FA Cup competitions.
Originally formed in 1886 by a group of workers at the Woolwich armaments factory in south London, the team rapidly became well-known and were able to attract top players, joining the Football League in 1893.

They won the English First Division a total of 13 times and the Premiership 3 times. They have won the FA Cup 10 times as well as being Runners Up 7 times.

During these years of success they have had some conspicuously good strikers, who have scored some fantastic goals, including such greats as Dennis Bergkamp, Emmanuel Adebayor, Robin van Persie, Cesc Fabregas, Thierry Henry and the latest maestro, Andrei Arshavin. They have all scored wonderful, memorable goals, and here are selection of the best.

Theo Walcott is a young striker of immense promise for both Arsenal and England. He was originally the product of the Southampton youth academy where in 2005 he starred in the youth side that reached the final of the FA Youth Cup against Ipswich Town.
He was transferred to Arsenal in January 2006, for a fee of £5 million, rising to £12 million and he signed as a professional on his 17th birthday on 16 March 2006. Since then his great skill and phenomenal pace have caused problems to defences all over the world and he has scored some magnificent goals for both Arsenal and England.

Dennis Bergkamp

Bergkamp was born in 1969 and first made a name for himself in his native Holland, playing for Ajax and his country and becoming Holland's top international scorer of all-time.

After 2 years with Inter Milan he joined Arsenal in July 1995 for £7.5 million. He was able to make his mark very quickly and he has been called the greatest foreign player ever in the English game. He is certainly one of the classiest strikers ever to grace the game. He scored some truly memorable goals and here are a few of them.

Emmanuel Adebayor

Emmanuel Adebayor was born in Lome, Togo, in February, 1984. After playing for Metz and Toulouse in France he joined Arsenal in January, 2006. He scored in his debut against Birmingham City a month later.

In season 2007/8 he scored a formidable 30 goals in 48 appearances. He has every attribute - pace, skill, aerial ability, a tremendous work-rate and great physical strength. Some of his goals are truly spectacular. Here are a selection of the best.

Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry was born in August, 1977, in Paris. He has always been a prolific striker and he was signed up as a boy for Monaco and made his professional debut in 1994.

After one season with Juventus he was signed by Arsenal in 1999 for £10.5 million. His play improved under Arsene Wenger and he became Arsenal's leading all-time goal scorer with 226 goals overall before being transferred to Barcelona in 2007.

His stay at Arsenal coincided with one of the club's most successful periods and whilst an Arsenal player he won two premiership titles and three FA Cups. He was twice nominated for the FIFA World Player of the Year, was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year twice, and the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year three times and he was club captain for his last two seasons. Robin van Persie

Robin van Persie was born in August 1983 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He joined Arsenal in May 2004 for £2.75 million after an outstanding career as a young emerging player at Feyenoord.

He is a lethal, skilful finisher and is prepared to try his luck from anywhere. He was Arsenal's top scorer in 2006/07 and hit seven goals in his first 11 games the following season before injury struck. Van Persie made his senior international debut for The Netherlands in 2005 and now has 35 caps and has scored 13 international goals.
