Forever Wild

This lens is for all the creatures of the earth. I am an animal lover and I love to paint.

IN SEARCH OF ICE

Scientists are predicting that nearly two-thirds of the world's polar bears will disappear by the middle of the century, because of the summertime sea ice melting.

24" X 18" Pastel

Sometimes painting is not the hardest part....

This painting of the Iguana took only a week or so - I spent nearly a year trying to find a frame that would compliment him.

For the longest time he lived in a frame that make him look like he was running a house for jaded women. It just didn't do anything for the macho fellow he really is.

Finally, I found this frame that had all the right colors, the right price and looked like it would be a good home for him. I swear I saw him smile when I placed him in it that first time.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE PANDAS GONE?

Long ago in China, the Panda was believed to have magical powers that could ward off natural disasters and evil spirits.

Today, Giant pandas are an endangered species, threatened by continued habitat loss and by a very low birthrate, both in the wild and in captivity
The giant panda bear only exists today in six small areas located in inland China. In most of the areas in which they still roam wild, they must compete with farmers who farm the river valleys and the lower slopes of the mountains.

GIANT PANDAS AND THE EARTHQUAKE

Some of the Pandas are gone

According to Associated Press three giant pandas are missing from the world's most famous panda reserve. It's located only about 20 miles from the epicenter of China's earthquake.
The quake also reportedly killed five staff members and destroyed or severely damaged most all of the reserve's panda houses.
Homes and buildings can be rebuilt, but lives cannot. Fortunately, at this time humanity is not on the edge of extinction like the Giant Pandas. How sad it all is.

LATEST UPDATES ABOUT THE GIANT PANDAS

Here's some interesting and sad updates from Woolong about the Giant Panda's plight since the horrible earthquake that struck China.

ZAZZLE

Gifts and more gifts

Zazzle! The name just kind of makes you want to sit up and look around. And that is certainly what you can do at a Zazzle store.

Since animals are my favorite subjects to paint, I have animals on nearly everything and am adding more daily.

LADY OF THE MOUNTAIN

Pastel on Suede board 20" x 16"

The Mountain Lion, also known as the Cougar, Panther or Puma, is the most widely ranged cat in the Americas.

Quite a few people have considered mountain lions to be pests and shot them on sight, or trapped or poisoned them. That's one of the reasons the cats have become scarce across North America. It's important to remember that mountain lions have an essential role to play in the ecosystems. They are one of the top predators, and without them populations of deer and other animals would become unhealthy and too large for the habitat.

SILVERBACK

Once these magnificent creatures are gone we cannot bring them back.

Our children and grandchildren will have much richer lives for having shared our planet with other living species.
