Uses and applications of Koloron Art Fabric

Hello I'm Cornelia, I am the Art Coordinator and Webmaster for Koloron Ltd.  When I'm not doing that I write freelance on craft subjects. It keeps me busy, very busy. Today I've got my Koloron hat on and I want to tell you about this remarkable Art Fabric resource.

A worldwide environmental friendly product for everybody has been created using Koloron. checkout the samples. It is amazing what you can do with this product.

How I met the Koloron team

I first met Koloron on the steps of the British Museum in London. A giant roll was feeding across an enormous table under the portico of the main entrance. Everybody was signing their names, making drawings and leaving messages all over the fabric. Fabric? it looked like paper. It was amazing, it turned out to be the world's longest visitor's book and was a publicity stunt to draw attention to the launch of Koloron into the UK.
The event was the Campaign for Drawing and it got me interested in Koloron. Today I am with the Company and work regularly with Koloron Art Fabric.

The Koloron Blog has great ideas and applications for this Art Fabric

You would be amazed at how versatile this material is.

Is it paper?, is it fabric?, it is both. Koloron Art Fabric

If you've never worked with it yourself I would describe it as very strong paper because it feels just like paper to touch, smooth surface, enticing to draw and paint on and there is as much of it as any artist could want. The biggest roll is 30ft long and 5ft wide, all in one endless, seamless piece. And it doesn't distort when you splash paint around and it doesn't tear when it is wet, it doesn't shrink, it just dries perfectly. So for lots of artists it's a giant canvass. But that's just the beginning.

Trimming and cutting is easy

Now we get to the Fabric bit. Koloron cuts cleanly and easily with scissors and knife and it doesn't fray. So it doesn't need hemming. It handles like crisp cotton and stitches just like it too. It also glues perfectly with PVA. The fabric side of Koloron's nature means that dressmakers and costume designers love it. Fold, ruche and pleat, tuck and tack, back, line, quilt and overlock. Koloron can also be wired, stretched and melted. And it's really strong, enough to swing on!
The creative mind just bursts with the possibilities.

Use paint for design and decoration

When the garment is made YOU PAINT IT. Can you imagine the endless exciting possibilities? For the stage, for the portfolio, the photographic studio. You start with a white garment and you paint it, brush or spray and any colouring medium you want. Any accessories just stick on, any texture, glitter, sequins, feathers, anything - build it up as you would a painting. And don't stop at people, Try making a six man dragon or a ten foot bird for the stage. The backdrop can be Koloron too and because it's so light a 15ft banner will hang held up by only staples or pins.

Endless uses for Koloron

It doesn't matter if you are wrapping buildings or producing greeting cards the unique qualities of Koloron allow creative ideas to take shape. On this page there are enough links to explain how koloron works for all activities. If I have missed one out please let me know. In the meantime have fun with Koloron and send me your pictures.
