My Squidoo Gallery: An overview of my paintings & art lenses
Ranked #3,487 in Arts & Design, #51,898 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund, ASPCA
An overview of my art lenses, artistic progress and the contents of my galleries
My digital artworks are painted in ArtRage and my traditional drawings are either plain sketches, or coloured with Prismacolor pencil, in either plain or moleskine sketchbooks. I've been seriously painting since early 2007, and fairly good at it since mid-2008. I'm trying to make a bit of money (and fame, of course) back from my art - and have actually begun to sell things, mostly on Zazzle.
For the thumbnail sections, you can click to jump to the section on that lens that has that image to see it larger and learn more about it. I hope you enjoy this page - it was fun to put together, and quite interesting to look over my artwork again. I should also warn you that it barely covers half my gallery! (...well. Maybe three-fifths).
My Dragon Paintings
Fantasy drawings and paintings of dragons and dragonlike creatures
This is only about half my pictures, the rest will be added later. I have a lot of dragon pictures (I'm including sea serpents, wyverns, and other various bat-winged and toothy humanoids here).
I like to think I'm on the way - but there are better artists out there.

Careless: Featured on RedBubble
A Careless Phoenix... Featured on the RedBubble homepage 15/04/09!
I didn't even know about the RedBubble features, but they seem to be very similar to deviantART's Daily Deviations. This painting was featured on the homepage on the 15th April, 2009.
You can buy it as a card on On RedBubble (and I ordered one - it's fantastic).
I don't seem to have made a poster out of it, but if anyone wants one, just ask. I do have some rather nice t-shirts on Zazzle though...

About Careless
The title is both about the phoenix itself, and about my approach to painting it.
Speedpaint of around two hours. A forcible break from jumping between commissions and gifts and prizeart and kiribans... (I wanted to just ...paint, to do something that I could stop doing when I wanted and not have to put aside to finish, that I could leave simple or work details into - my standards are getting much higher, I have a lot of mostly finished pictures now, for people (mostly) that I once would have posted but now cannot bear to, I see too much needing doing and I would be ashamed of having it in my gallery...)
So. Firebirds. A fierce, brief indulgence, an inspired glory of exhultation. And then freedom and rising renewed to return to other things.
Grasses are using the edge palette knife, background using flat and soft.
The phoenix was an experiment, the entire picture came out quite stylised and I added the stars as a counterpoint and to emphasise that. There were burning tree silhouettes but they looked scrappy and were unnecessary and cluttering, so I removed them.
And is the phoenix flying over the sunset, or is it setting a trail of fire and destruction...? Passing by in endless travels, rising newborn from a burning nest, or coming in to land and rest...?

Foam - My Daily Deviation on deviantART
Dartmoor Waterfall Stock Photo - Daily Deviation 3rd March, 2009
This photograph is from a Feb-March visit to the UK in 2009. It's of a waterfall on Dartmoor, Devon - one of my favourite places in the world. I went there with my uncle and cousins which was brilliant, as I got to see the moors again.
To my complete and utter shock this became incredibly popular (it was the 'free' bit that did it!) and recieved a Daily Deviation shortly after I uploaded it. Nearly a year later (about one month short) it has been favourited 843 times, downloaded 967 times, and viewed 7,572 times.
If you'd like to use this as a stock image for a blog background, general illustration or photomanipulation I ask that:
1. You tell me.
2. You credit me - that is, someone looking at what you've made can easily find out that the image was mine, and can also easily find the image again. Preferably a link.
All uses allowed (including prints, manips, as a reference) - as long as you actually use it for something of your own, don't just filter it, or post as is... (unless it's for a theme/background - but you can't just copy it and sell it.)
*wishes this was obvious to everyone*
You can find more of my stock photos here (same rules) and the images people have made from them here.
About Dartmoor
A bare and beautiful landscape - also has stark and dramatic rocks which are awesome for climbing.
It's famous for its walks, its ponies, its views - and the little stone villages, marked out in tumbledown circles of rocks, sunk into the ground.
My favourite bit has to be the tors themselves - great outcroppings of granite, thrust up into the sky, scattering boulders and slabs around them, grey rocks spilled down the hill under the heather.

The Many Faces of Flynn the Cat: Part One, Early disaster to rather passable
Progress in drawing faces: Early 2007- April 2009
Most of the faces I've painted over the last two years. I put this together right after finishing the portrait of Slave Leia on the right, and was being all proud and fascinated at how far I'd come.
There's beauties and realism and abstract and errors and progress and colours for you all...It's not ALL of them - I took out the worst, to keep it nice and square (and because they were so bad ^_^) but it's most. Most are in my gallery somewhere - but there's a couple that aren't online (portraits of friends, or unfinished work).
If you want to see the original of any, just comment and I'll link you. And yes, all of them are in ArtRage
The Many Faces of Flynn the Cat: Part Two, Realism to Abstract
Progress in portraits and faces: April 2009-March 2010
As you can see, not only have I gotten better at drawing faces, I'm drawing more of them... as many in the last 3/4 of a year, as in the two years before that. Funny parallel that.
I also picked up real pencils again, and you can see a lot more traditionally coloured pencil faces up there. There's a wider range of styles and subjects - manga, realism, caricatures (e.g. top right corner - drawn for ArchMage's Are You an Evil Genius Lens. There's more fanart - webcomics, Star Wars, Buffy - you can see some of my film and TV show fanart here.
I predict that...

Flynn_the_Cat predicts:
there will be a lot more art to come.

Aquavel predicts:
Your art will continue to reach new heights. An even more advanced ArtRage lens will appear in the future. More and more TV and movie studies will see your work and feature it! More people will contact you about buying originals. You will soon illustrate a children's book or book of poetry. More illustrating opportunities will follow, but you will take time out to write and illustrate your own book. etc. (It's so much fun to predict good things for talented people! )
rauspitz predicts:
That you will continue to impress with your lenses and your art.
Close2Art predicts:
you just got an angel blessing..:)rwjr
AbbieW predicts:
success is in your future!
