Art Glass Fellerman

It is my privilege to present the master studio glassblower Stephen Fellerman.

Fellerman's art glass pieces, often inspired by the Art Nouveau Period, can be found in numerous private and public collections around the world. His works in these early years were equivalent and in the same design as all of the famous art glass makers of the Tiffany era.

We are listing on eBay live auctions and eBay Store an extensive collection of Stephen Fellerman Blown Glass Art, from the 1970's to the present time, they are from Fellerman's personal collection. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, all in excellent condition, and personally signed and dated by Stephen Fellerman.

You will find cased, optic or iridescent Vases and Bowls with lines which are extremely exquisite and naturalistic in form... cameo sculpting, opaque hanging lamps, art nouveau sculptures, 16 pt. floral design paperweights.

Now master glassblower Stephen Fellerman is living and working in Hawaii on the island of Maui. In his studio located in Haiku he is also offering classes in furnace glassblowing.

Stephen Fellerman bio, Art Nouveau, Studio glassware.

It was amazing to discover that Stephen Fellerman grew up in New York, and everybody in his family expected him to follow his family business.
He instead decided to enroll in college at Pratt where he took a ceramics class.

Upon graduation, in the summer of 1972 he headed west and ended up in California.
In Sausalito, working in small glass studio he learned a variety of techniques, that studio happened to be one of the most creative art centers for glass art in the country.

After just one year in California, he returned east, and opened his own studio in Connecticut.
Shortly, his studio gained in popuarity and he became one of the first studio glass artists to make a living from glassblowing art.
Stephen specialized in Art Nouveau and his reputation grew tremendously.

I'll take a small break to explain the Art Nouveau movement.
Art Nouveau is an international style of art, architecture and design that peaked in popularity at the beginning of the 20th century (around 1880-1914) and is characterized by highly-stylized, flowing, curvilinear designs often incorporating floral and other plant-inspired motifs.

The best examples of the creators in Art Nouveau style in Glassware are:

1) René Jules Lalique France, 1860 - 1945.
He was a glass designer, renowned for his stunning creations of perfume bottles, vases, jeweler, chandeliers, clocks, and, in the latter part of his life, automobile hood ornaments. The firm he founded is still active.
By 1890, Lalique was recognized as one of France's foremost Art Nouveau jeweler designers; creating innovative pieces for Samuel Bing's new Paris shop, La Maison de l'Art Nouveau. He went on to be one of the most famous in his field, his name synonymous with creativity and quality.

2) Émile Gallé France 1846 - 1904
He was a French artist who worked in glass, and is considered to be one of the major forces in the French Art Nouveau movement.
Gallé was the son of a faience and furniture manufacturer he studied philosophy, botany, and drawing, and later learned glassmaking at Meisenthal and came back to work at his father's factory in Nancy. His work was executed using clear glass decorated with enamel, but he soon turned to an original style featuring heavy, opaque glass carved or etched with plant motifs. His career took off after his work received praise at the Paris Exhibition of 1878.
Within a decade of another successful showing at the Paris Exhibition of 1889, Gallé had reached international fame and his style, with its emphasis on naturalism and floral motifs, was at the forefront of the emerging Art Nouveau movement.

3) Louis Comfort Tiffany 1848 - 1933
He was an American artist and designer who worked in the decorative arts and is best known for his work in stained glass.
Tiffany is the American artist most associated with the Art Nouveau movement. He was affiliated with a prestigious collaborative of designers known as the Associated Artists which included Lockwood de Forest, Candace Wheeler, and Samuel Colman. Tiffany designed stained glass windows and lamps, glass mosaics, blown glass, ceramics, jewelry, enamels and metalwork.

Stephen Fellerman is a follower of Tiffany Art Nouveau style in USA.

In a last 2 years Stephen Fellerman traveled throughout the United States exhibiting at more than 25 Art Festivals. In Nov. 2007 he moved in Maui and is sculpting hot glass at Da Factory in Haiku.
