If cleansing yourself in the shower has become a quick scrub of the soap and a small dap of shampoo than you're in need of The Art of Cleansing. This short tutorial will help you begin a regimen that will ultimately cleanse your body, relax your muscles, and rejuvenate your skin in the shower.

What you will need:

  • Head - You will need a good shampoo for your hair type. If you are still looking for a good shampoo I suggest Philosophy 3-in-1 ultra rich shampoo, bubble bath & body wash.
  • Face - In my opinion the face is the most important body part because it's the most recognizable feature of all. So you need to take care of it the better care you give to it the better you will feel. With that said I suggest you get a Terry Cloth Sponge so not to tear the skin. You will also need a good Face Scrub to rejuvenate the skin.
  • Body and Legs - This is where most people will just rub soap on and rinse off and think they're done. To get a great wash and relax your muscles I recommend you get three things a Mesh Sponge, a Loofah Back Brush, and an Aromatherapy Sugar Scrub.
  • Feet - Maintaining good feet doesn't take much all you really need is Curved Handle Pumice and a good Foot Scrub.
  • Bath Caddy - The bath caddy is optional but unless you want all your accessories lining the edges of your bath tub or on the floor of your shower you will be better off having a bath caddy to hold all your essentials.

Step by Step Tutorial

The Art of Cleansing in the Shower

Step 1: Enter the shower set your preferable water temperature and soak yourself thoroughly. Grab your shampoo (Philosophy 3-in-1 ultra rich shampoo) dab about a quarter size amount into your hand and apply to your scalp. Massage and work into a lather then let sit. This allows the shampoo treatment to do what it says it will do, most people will apply the shampoo while under the shower head and defeat the whole purpose of shampoo.

Step 2: From head to face, the transition consists of grabbing your favorite face scrub then applying it to the Terry Cloth Sponge (or wash cloth). Sounds simple right, maybe to simple since most people will skip this step and believe rubbing the face with water is just fine. With your Sponge, scrub your face in tiny circles away from the water and make sure you build lather as well. Once that is completed rinse your sponge off and set aside and move to step 3.

Step 3: Moving from the face to the body. Depending on your mood you can start either with the back or the front. For the sake of argument I will start with grabbing the Mesh Sponge and building lather with the Aromatherapy Sugar Scrub. Then while facing away from the water I start with both hands and work towards the shoulders on both sides one at a time. Then scrubbing around the neck, behind the ears, and then moving to the chest and stomach making sure not to forget the armpits. Then slide down to the legs and to the top of the feet then scrub around them. Once you're done with that move back up to the genital and buttock region to clean. Now that you have cleaned the front part of the body rinse your Mesh Sponge off then set aside and grab the Loofah Back Brush lather it up and start brushing your back and lower back. Once you're done with that rinse it off and set aside. Now that both the back and front are done its time to rinse off everything and move to step 4.

Step 4: Alright ready to get out of the shower yet, good only one more thing to do. Grab the Curved Handle Pumice and a good Foot Scrub and go to town on the sole's of your feet. Finally your done rinse the pumice and put all your items in there place and step out of the shower.

Congratulations you finished The Art Cleansing you're on your way to building a regimen that will ultimately cleanse your body, relax your muscles, and rejuvenate your skin in the shower.
