Winsor Newton 11 x 14 inch Prestretched Canvas- Pack of 6

Stretched Canvas-11"X14"

Amazon Price: $5.98 (as of 11/09/2009)Buy Now

Prestretched Canvas...We have tried many brands of prestretched canvas; and we have listened to customer feedback as well. One brand that keeps coming out on top is Winsor & Newton. Their prestretched canvases are made with 8oz natural cotton duck. The stretcher bars are 13/16 inch deep and feature staple free edges- the canvas is stapled onto the back of the stretcher bars so the edges can be painted to display finished paintings with or without framing. Each canvas is triple primed with acid free sizing and two coats of highly pigmented acrylic primer (gesso). This priming offers balanced absorbency and tooth while preventing oil paints from sinking or soaking through. The stretcher bars themselves are kiln dried and have beveled edges. Each canvas is stretched by hand and there is ample canvas on the back if you should decide to restretch the finished painting. Ideal for use with oil acrylic and alkyd paints. Perhaps best of all we are offering these cavases in packages of six and offered at discounted prices!

Do You Need Canvas And Paints?

Buy Your Art Supplies Online.

I love being able to get on my computer and buy my Art Supplies online. I suppose I am like most Artists, a bit of a recluse in some ways.

When I am in the creative zone I just want to keep going with no interuptions. I know that if I stop and go shopping I will lose at least half a day and won't feel quite as connected with my Art when I get back.

This is the reason I shop Online for all my Art Supplies.

Lately I have been creating HUGE mixed media Canvas's for my walls. I have some special products that I love to use.

I have used glazes for the first time. I only bought a very small bottle and would recommend you buy a BIG one as mine was gone in no time. You mix them with acrylic paint and they give the most wonderful translucent quality to your work. When you are using many many layers as I do, Glazes are the perfect thing to give the effect of translucency to the work.

I also have a love affair with the Halo Lumiere acrylic paints by Jacard. When you shake those bottles up and see the gleaming gold metallic inside the bottle and mixing with the main colour it just gives me goosebumps. ( Yes I am passionate about colour) OH a little tip about storing these, store them upside down that way they will not dry out.

For texture you cant go past the texture paints. Golden have a huge variety of these and you just paint or palate knife them on to your canvas and wait for the to dry. You can them paint over them for a wonderful textured finish.

Richeson Easel Factory

Jack Richeson Full Box French Style Easel

had the good fortune to tour the Richeson Easel Factory. I was truly impressed! Incredible craftsmanship, attention to detail, and as I came to find out, service oriented. I would never buy a different brand after seeing what went into it. Extra note: They use Lyptus wood. As hard as oak, but a renewable resource. When you buy one, it tells you all about it. Really fine easels.

What Are The Best Art Supplies For Kids?

Art Supplies For Kids

Kids just love bright colours so the first thing I recommend for them are acylic paints in the primary colours. Yes Bright red, Yellow, Blue and green. You can show them how to mix the colous to make any colour they like.

Great big thick inexpensive brushes, and if you can manage it an easel.

Every child after the age of 7 or 8 should have a journal.I would buy a blank spiral bound jornal, that way they can draw or do art work in it as qwell as write. Teach them to write in it every evening before or just as they go to bed. If you start this young enough Kids can write down their feelings, what has been great about the day, and if they like they can write down what they were feeling grateful for that day. This helps kids articulate, get to know themselves, and of course there is the writing practise as well.

Now back to more art supplies. You must get them crayons, the biggest box of crayola crayons you can afford. Later on you can also get pastels, watercolour paints and sketching pencils. Always have heaps of paper available as well. These things will keep your kids happy for hours. ( Dont forget to get something wonderful for yourself as well)

Check out Dick Blick for all these wonderful products.

Jack Richeson's Pure Kolinsky Brush Set...It's the world's finest sable. It's the premium natural hair for water media brushes. The finest Kolinsky sable hair comes from Russia's extremely cold region of Siberia. Jack Richeson went to Russia to locate their oldest brush manufacturer and asked them to make their top Kolinsky series. Every brush in this line is created by hand so that each brush develops a needle point and a crisp snap and resiliency. These Kolinsky brushes feature hair from the Arctic-hardy male Kolinsky Marten Weasel (male hair is longer and more resilient than those of the female). This is the finest hair ever found for brush making. It is also the most expensive and for years artists have had to settle for less expensive substitutes. Now everyone can afford the genuine article. Once you experience the magic of these brushes you'll never settle for anything less. This set contains five beautiful brushes including rounds in sizes 2/0 1 3 and 8 along with a big thick 3/4" flat wash brush with a nice full belly. I buy a lot of my art stuff on dickblick because the prices are usually the best! Recently I ordered a conte sketch set from that site because it seems to be in the process of being discontinued. They got some pretty good deals on pastels as well and are on a big list of links in my lens!

Anyway, do you have any tips on improving that lens?
