Try starting out with doodles and fancy script. Or get a new journal and make each page's background beautiful with watercolors (solid, patterns, random... you decide!). Or go with digital art journaling, like the above pieces.
Art journaling isn't always going to be neat and tidy. It's not even always going to be in a book. Feel free to make art journal sculpture!
